Human Growth Hormone Stimulants?

I know there are a lot of benefits to having elevated levels of HGH, but I know that the actual 'injections' of synthetic HGH can be dangerous and the dosage can be screwed up if not done by a professional.

But I know there are pills that do not actually contain HGH, but chemicals that "Stimulate" the natural production of HGH by the pituitary gland itself.
I'm ordering HGH stimulant pills that are FDA approved and proven to work, but I'm still curious.
What are the chemicals in these pills that can 'tell' the pituitary gland to produce more HGH?

  1. I would be interested to know what HGH stimulant pills have been FDA approved as well as which ones have been proven to work. I don’t know of any that have been FDA approved, nor do I know of any that have been actually proven to work outside the sales company’s own self-serving tests.
The FDA does not approve supplements to begin with, though they do ban ones that make health claims or are proven to be unsafe. Not being banned and approved are entirely different from being approved or safe or proven to work.

There are a large number of the HGH supplements are which are sold as either HGH stimulators or HGH precursors. I consider most of those products to be either outright scams with virtually worthless ingredients or else close to scams with limited actual benefits.

Even the ones which may have some stimulating effects will not stimulate HGH production anywhere close to what you will get from plain old exercise. And then there is the question of safety. How do you know that the ingredients in the pills are safe to use, if the description of the ingredients is even accurate or if the company used good and safe manufacturing procedures? If they will lie about being FDA approved, then why would they not lie about the rest of it too?

  2. There’s also some downsides to elevated HGH, and any benefits are debatable. Those injections of recombinant HGH are also exceedingly expensive.

Some of the pills claim to contain HGH, this is of course rather silly – HGH is a protein, and you’ve got a big bubbling sack of acid and protein degrading enzymes that are specifically setup to degrade proteins, that sits between your mouth and your blood.

The FDA does not approve supplements. They are not evaluated to be safe, and they are not evaluated to be effective. If the FDA did approve something to stimulate the release of HGH from the pituitary it would fall under the category of a legend drug – one that can only be dispensed with a prescription. To put it bluntly – whoever’s providing that product is lying to you.

Most of the HGH related products sold are a scam, spawned from a media frenzy over some HGH related research that was published in the early 1990s that implied that adding it could delay some of the effects of aging. This turned out not to be true, apparent increases in muscle mass were actually due to increased water retention in the muscle tissue.

To put it bluntly, there isn’t a chemical in these products that induces the production of HGH from the anterior pituitary. The product of label of every one of these I’ve seen is little more than a mixture of common amino acids, present in every food and a variety of other, frequently a variety of other cheaper supplements.

Tony I’s point about exercise increasing it is well made, but of debatable use. Intense aerobic exercise can produce an elevation in serum levels of growth hormone between 2 and 4 times that of the resting level. However, this effect persists for between 20 minutes and one hour. The amount produced during Stage III and Stage IV sleep is about twice this, and much longer lived.

Edit: Note that Rhonda below would be the example of such a scam. Since, IGF is not a metabolite of GH in any form whatsoever – they’re not even homologous. IGF-1 is also one of the most potent inhibitors of GH production about. Half a minute’s of literature search shows that this is complete garbage.

Liposomal preparations are also -extremely- difficult to prepare and stabilize (less so than other delivery systems, but still, not easy), have to be administered intravenously, and I’m unaware of any that cost less than about $200 a dose.

Also, 2,500 ng of IGF1? Pff. Please. Just please. That’s silly. I’ve got more than that floating in the blood in my pinky finger right now.

  3. IGF-1 [Structural] (insulin-like growth factor 1) is a metabolite of human growth hormone. Scientists have discovered that an extract of the velvet on the antlers of a particular species of deer (Cervi parvum cornu) provides IGF-1 and all of its benefits.

Researchers have found that deer antler velvet contains eight known growth factors, prostaglandins, nerve-protective fatty acids, prohormones, amino acids and components of cartilage (including glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate, collagen type I, collagen type II and minerals).

NSP IGF-1 is concentrated and cold-processed to assure optimum bioactivity. Its liposome delivery system ensures optimum absorption. NSP takes great care to harvest the deer antler velvet in the most humane and careful ways.

Each bottle contains at least 2,500 nanograms of IGF-1 and other insulin-like growth factors.

Adults: Spray twice under your tongue three times daily. Hold for 20 seconds before swallowing.
