Human growth hormone question?
I'm 15, near 16. I haven't even grown an inch in the past two years, and I'm about 5'1 at the moment and weigh 94 pounds. My mom is about 5'2, dad is about 5'11, almost 6'0. I'm considering getting injections to help me grow. I don't get it--I've been exercising and eating well for years. I've done everything possible to encourage growth. Now I've given up and I'm resorting to shots. Can anyone tell me if it works and if it causes any negative side effects?

You cannot legally obtain HGH without a prescription and from the looks of it, no doctor will give you that prescription.
First of all, as a physician, based on what you are describing; you are certainly not an outlier in terms of your petite frame. Growth spurts occur at different times in different people. Perhaps you still have some growth left.
Perhaps there are some medical reasons for your short stature, such as and issues with your brain (hypothalamus and pituitary) or perhaps other gyn. issues or hormonal issues.
You should speak with your physician regarding your growth. He will probably refer you to an endocrinologist. An endocrinologist will do a thorough history and physical and will attempt to construct a growth chart based on your actual height over the years. When you view your growth graphically, it will probably fall within the range of normal, meaning that you probably will not be within the 10% of people who fall outside of the range of normal growth.
You also will be given blood tests that measure other hormones such as IGF, etc.
Don’t be too afraid that you will remain the same height forever though. You certainly have a right to be concerned but be assured that you are not significantly different than everyone else. If u are very concerned, talk to your physician.

You haven’t stopped growing yet, give it some time. Growth Hormone will only work if you are short of the Hormone in your body. Why put yourself through the pain and risk of having injections on a daily basis.

You should really talk to a Dr. first. You may just be genetically predisposed to being petit, and hey there is nothing wrong with that. Although there is nothing wrong with exercising and eating right, so I encourage you to keep doing just that, I would really ask a physician about the hormone shots. If you don’t need them they could hurt you, plus a Dr. probably wouldn’t give them to you anyway. I am in school to work in the health care field so I have taken a lot of classes on how the human body works, and if everything is in proportion to the way it is supposed to be messing with it can be very harmful. Please really think about this. Maybe you should just work on being happy with who you are. Hey, if we were all the same shape and size the world would be a pretty boring place. I also know that at the age you are, the way you look can be a major issue. And you have probably heard before that this stuff will pass. It really will, and to be perfectly honest with you, I wouldn’t be 15 or 16 again for all the money in the world. So Just enjoy who you ARE!!!!

You can get Homeopathic HGH from healthfood stores at a fraction of the cost of injections, and give imiliar results. Your wayyyyy to young to resort to a drastic meaure like that. I knew girls that shot up in their late teens. You could possibly impede that process (not sure) by taking injections now. Wait a few years and be a teenager.for now…

do not touch HGH with a pole. it has very negative side effects. yes you do grow. but along with getting taller and wider your intestines also grow, along w/ your hands, head, and feet. and sometimes it dosnt grow, uhhhh, nicely. i work out alot and i’ve looked into it. the negative weighs out the bad like whoa! if you could afford a live in nutritionist to monitor your growth, eating, exercising, everything…you know like barry bonds, then yeah go ahead and give it a swing. but i’d say NOOOO> you’re still young.

Sorry, you can’t get growth hormone without a prescription. There is nothing you can do to encourage growth, eating well and exercising won’t help you grow tall. GH comes from your pituitary, and if it doesn’t make enough then you have a pituitary problem and you can ask your Dr. to check your levels (IGF1) and if low can get a prescription. Even if you could get it illegally, its not safe to take if your levels are normal and can cause long-term health problems.
