Acne prescription treatment?

Hey guys, thanks for your help.
I have pretty good skin, although my forehead has a bunch of spots, not acne, just scars, darker little dots.
Sometimes i break out, and usually have at least 10 small zits on my face at one time.
My doctor randomly prescribed Benzoyl Peroxide Gel and Tretinoin Gel to be applied every day, one each day.
It says that you will break out initially, can't go out in the sun and that it will lighten your skin. I start school in two weeks, pictures are next week, and homecoming is october 2nd.
My mom dropped the prescriptions off last night, so i have 0 worth of acne stuff i dont even know if i want. its not returnable.
How can i go to school everyday with the best possible skin? I want to be able to wake up and not have to wear makeup all over my face everyday. I don't want to go through a long period of time when i look terrible.
as of now, i wash my face twice daily, and kinda like my skin. I want it to be better for school though, and would probably wear makeup. I wore tons of makeup every day last year, and would prefer not to have to again.
I'm tan now and would go tanning outside before homecoming, and really don't want gross, flaky, peeling red skin that cannot tan based on directions.

What should i do? I don't even know if i want to use the acne medications, but i feel like i must or my mom would get mad, and it would be a terrible waste of money. They "expire" in three months, but i think i could use them after that.

Please help me if you've used them or have advice!
Thank you so much.

Cystic acne treatment?!?

I've had severe pimples and white heads the last year and a half. They all vanished, but now I get cystic acne! I've been to the dermatologist many times for shots, medication, and consultation. He strongly recommended accutane, but my family doesn't have insurance. I've had laser treatment done along with high dosage shots in korea, this helped my cysts a lot. But the korean derm. also said it was odd that my skin isn't perfectly clear (apparently it was suppose to be after all the treatment). The medication he gave me made me sweat so much, like sweat even when I;m not hot. This made school life impossible, so I quit that after 2&half month of using. Through the last three months of laser/shots/medicine, my cysts went down a lot.

Now they're coming back up and are getting redder! I read on the internet that cysts are suppose to hurt on touch, but mine has no feeling. They just feel like a bump on my skin that occasionally gets itchy. I don't scratch or pick at it, but they just won't go away. They're all in my side jaw areas, a few black spots have already formed. When I got a cyst next to my eye, it cleared up in a few weeks. But the ones next to my jaws seem like they're been there for over a year. Is there any meds that help clear up cystic acne?! Home remedies that work?!

I've tried Benzol cycline (I think thats what it's called)

I still wash my face with Benzol Peroxide (10%) couple times a day

I don't eat greasy foods, I eat mainly vegetables and rice.

I take 1 a day teen advantage, zinc, and Vitamin A every day.

I've tried putting tomato pulp on my face, apple cider vinegar too.

Help!

so if i use them only sparingly in the beginning, does that lessen my chance of a breakout?

what can i do to reduce the appearance of my acne scars?

I have really bad acne scars on my face and back. i've started using bio-oil, and it's been a month, but i haven't really seen any change, though they do say it takes about three months.
are there any cremes that can significantly reduce acne scars? will my skin ever look normal again?
does lasic treatment really work? will anything make it look normal again?

Is it effective to use two medications for acne?

I just started using a cleansing bar that has salicylic acid and a spot treatment with benzoyl peroxide, just to see if it's more effective than using just salicylic acid cause I've been using it for about three months without seeing a great improvement in my acne. And after I heard about that new product called MaxClarity which mixes both medications, I decided to try it.

What is your favorite acne treatment, for adult acne prone skin?

Also, I have oily skin most of the time. I do use proactive solution, but it doesn't work that well with my skin anymore. Also, when I was a teen I took acutane for three months and it only got rid of my most severe cystic acne, but I sill have overall breakouts all the time, and I just turned 26. So if you know of a really great product that works, please let me know. Especially the nonprescription methods.
