Can Juvenille Diabetes cause Acne?

I've had type 1 diabetes for 14 years (I'm 22 now), and I think my acne is cause of this. I started to break out around 11 years old, and haven't stopped since. I break out every day with pustles, white heads, nodules. But I never had blackheads EVER! I've tried everything from Accutane to Proactiv and nothing has worked, causing me to think that my acne is a cause of this incurrable condition. I've also had my hormone levels tested, and they are normal. I just don't understand how diabetes can cause acne. My doctors don't believe that it could, but I've read in diabetic forums that it can, but they never offer an explanation as to why. If anyone can shed some light on this, please let me know how type 1 diabetes causes acne and how to treat the acne.

Birth Control Pill.. Help Please!!!!!!!?

I have not been taking birth control pills for about 6 months now.. I took them for about 3 years.. I wasn't trying to get pregnant but I was experiencing side effects from desogen which was odd cause the first time I took it I had not problems with it..I tried ortho tricyclin lo and got severe headaches that's why they switched me to desogen... I had switched over to yaz for about a year cause I was getting them for free at the time.. I ran out and couldn't really afford it at the time & I was hearing that it was causing women to get blood clots.. I switched back to desogen and I was having a lot of side effects... Weight gain, Headaches, extreme mood swings etc... When I was on yaz all of the side effects was under control.. I am aware I probably need a low dose hormone but I don't really know much about birth control hormone levels... I need some idea on what types I should look into... Is there a generic yaz??? Oh yeah another thing... I have never ever ever had an acne problem.. I mean if I got a blemish I didn't know how to act... Now I break out on my cheeks horribly.. Could this be because I was taking birth control pills continuously for a few years and my body got use to the hormones staying the same.. now that i don't take any at all could this be why I am breaking out??? If I go back on birth control will it cause the break outs to stop???

Time for a new dermatologist? I've been seen him for 8 years and my acne isn't gone.?

Should I switch to a new dermatologist? I've been seen him for 8 years and my acne isn't gone. He's been prescribed various forms of tetracycline in the past few years and providing topical medications such as differn and a face wash. Are there other more effective treatments? My acne is isolated mainly to my face and consist of some blackheads and a few of the larger pimples a month. I have health insurance (if that matters).
I am a male.

fyi, aldactone controls hormone levels.

What acne treatments and routines have worked for you?

I am medical student and have become interested in dermatology and I'm researching using many conduits. That being said I have seen a few individuals ranging in background, race etc. with acne problems and half the time, cold diagnosis doesn't work. Even seasoned dermatologist say it takes time to understand what works; its the people that tell you what to prescribe! I want to know about your skin treatments and routines. From scar treatments that have worked for you in conjunction with your acne treatments to curing full blown cases of acne vulgaris or acne without comedones. If you've seen a doctor for your acne, what were you diagnosed as, prescribed and did the treatment work? I understand this is somewhat private information but it could go a long way with helping another individual with their own personal bout with acne. I have 3rd party survey information but that doesn't give doctors a truly accurate idea of what works best as it is not that simple and they're often associated with a skin treatment retailer anyway. Only experience in what works does and I don't have that yet. Be honest and frank. If a popular product didn't work for you, say so but also include your usage. If you would miss a few treatments a month and so on. Of course diet and exercise have a lot to do with circulation of the blood to the skin, the amount of sebum one secrets and hormone levels so don't hold back any of that information too. I hope to get a big response as I would like to use this as a small sampling of testimonials from the simple to the complex.

Thanks in advance for your openness and participation!
