My acne medications dry my face out, is there a good moisturizer that won't interfere with the treatment?
I was using topical Erythromycin and Differin (Adapalene) but I stopped because they made my skin dry even though they worked really well. But I want to start using them again.
Is there a good moisturizer that I can use with my prescription and still get clear skin?
Thanks!
Does minocycline work if I have taken doxycycline previously?
Hi I'm a 20 years old girl suffering from pastular acne and I have been taking oral antibiotics since 2001. I took doxycline until 2005 before my acne flares up again. My doctor then prescribed me erythromycin which worked for a few months before I started breaking out again and it was back to doxycycline for me. Now my doctor has prescribed me minocycline, will it worked since it is the same class as doxycycline or should I try other acne treatments such as oral contraceptives?
How do I apply erythromycin into the eyes of my newborns eyes?
How should I apply the erythromycin? Is it best to apply directly in the eye or around it? The baby is only 2 weeks old... Suggestion?
erythromycin acne topical treatment?
My doc prescribed erythromycin for my acne and also some erythrocin (i think thats how its spelled) pills to take twice a day. Unfortunetly the pills make me verrrrrry nasues even when i take it with food etc...so i have only been doing the topical erythromycin treatment for my skin. i dont have severe acne or anything, i would say i have moderate acne. ive been using the gel for about 5 or 6 weeks, and it seemed to work a little in the begining but now that i really look, it seems to look worse than it did before! my parents even asked me why my face was so broken out...should i stick with this treatment a little longer? or has it been long enough and is time to go back to the doc for something else?? any tips or advice on any other prescription meds that have worked well would be nice too...thank you!!
acne issues, any help?
I have moderate acne, and about a year ago, my doctor proscribed something called "Erythromycin and Benzoyl Peroxide" for it, which worked quite well. At my last checkup, my doctor added something called "Differin" specifically for the blackhead type of acne, while keeping me on the original topical cream for normal acne. I've noticed that while the differin helps clear up the blackheads, it makes the normal acne worse... I use the differin at night, and the benzoyl peroxide during the day, as prescribed... but still, the normal acne gets worse and worse while my blackheads go away, it seems that the differin is making the normal acne worse. I stopped using the differin 2 days ago, and I'm already seeing the normal acne start to go away as I continue to use my original acne cream, but the blackheads are starting to come back, does anyone know of an effective blackhead medication that doesn't make normal acne worse? And on top of that, one that can be used side by side with my current acne cream?
Thanks
Acne Treatment- What do I do when pills don't work?
I'm a 14 year old boy who has tried mostly everything for my acne. At 12 I started on Proactiv; it didn't do anything. By 13 I began to use facial cleansers (Clean & Clear, ect.) before I applied Proactiv; my acne only got worse. About 5 months ago I saw a doctor, and she prescribed Benzaclin Gel: a topical antibiotic with 5% Benzoyl peroxide. Although it cleared my face up considerably, eliminating zits and some redness, the acne was still widespread. 2 months ago, I was prescribed Erythromycin pills (in combination with the topical antibiotic). It hasn't made much progress. To be honest, it's gotten a bit worse.
My question is: what should I do next. The doctor said something about seeing a dermatologist if the pills didn't work. What can a dermatologist do that a doctor can't?
That's all guys. Sorry it's so long, but I need some good advice. Thanks in advance!
Can anyone help me with my acne question?
I've used Erythromycin Benzoyl Peroxide Topical Gel for awhile and it works okay for my skin. I was wondering if there was anyone who has used this in the past and have found something that is a little better for their skin. Something you can buy at the store or something. Like Clean and Clear. Also i have blackheads on my nose and the Erythormycin doesn't work for them, does anyone know of anything that is good for them?
Can you take Doxycyline for strep throat? I’m allergic to amoxicillin, and the erythromycin didn’t work.?
I've never had a doctor prescribe Doxycycline for strep throat / sinus infection before until today. Usually erythromycin is the antibiotic medication of choice after amoxicillin. Have you ever taken Doxycycline? I thought it was just for acne treatment...Will it work for strep?
Does anyone have an acne cure for really sensitive skin (red bumps on face)?
Basically I have sensitive skin on my face that is reddish with bump-like things. Below is a list of the things I've tried over the years and a rating of how effective these products were.
Here is what I've tried:
birth control
effectiveness: excellent, but i'm not a fan of internal meds so i stopped
erythromycin in the morning &
egg mask at night
effectiveness: ok -- i used this for a few years
castor oil & jojoba oil (very little of the castor oil)
effectiveness: pretty good for a month and then blah
proactive
effectiveness: rash / bad reaction
green tea bags
effectiveness: rash / bad reaction
benzoyl peroxide
effectiveness: rash / bad reaction
salicylic acid
effectiveness: not good at all / bad reaction
I recently switched from Cetaphil gentle cleansing soap to this new product called Cerave hydrating cleanser and I'm now using NO acne treatment besides using soap to wash my face at night.
I just want to have a clear complexion. Can anyone with similar skin help??
I never touch my face.
What's a good acne treatment? What should I use and in what order? For example, acne wash, moisturizer, ect.
I've tried Proactiv, the first time it actually worked which was about four years ago and I recently purchased it again, but my skin got really irritated. I've tried going to a dermatologist and they gave me triamcinolone for my forearms and erythromycin and benzoyl peroxide topical gel for my face. The erythromycin was too strong for my face and my skin got irritated, but the triamcinolone worked for my face for some reason. I just wanted to know any good brands or most effective products I can use for my acne and in what combinations!! My face is pretty oily and a few pimples every now and then. HELP?! Please:]
