would you amputate your leg if you were in my shoes?

I have been blind my whole life, I am now in a wheelchair because I woke up one moring and my leg was paralysed now over a year later I still have no function of this limb. I now use a wheelchair and/or crutches. which is not only dangerous but Is very hard on the euqipment (I have had my electric chair replaced 3 times over and its not even a year old yet) I've broken white cane (like 14 i think) and killed 2 manual wheelchairs. I want to remain active but my back is seriously injured from the dead weight. I can't feel my limb and I have had staph 7 times in my life if something happened I would never know. I want to walk again and not have to rely on crutches and run a safety risk. I know of many people who are amputees and although it was an ajustment they are doing just fine. so would you electively amputate your leg if you were me?
how would you say I'm not adapting? I still went to college I am training my own servicd dog, I still remain as active as possible I use a white cane in front of my wheelchair but one litle stick is not going to stop and electric wheelchair if it hits something. I'm doing the best i can but I wondering if this might be better. a paraplegic can still see there legs and see if something is wrong I can't. they can see were there wheelchair is going i can't. they can see the tips of there crutches I can't. there is a difference

Did you see our wheelchairs racing?

We were at the corner and on the line ready to take off. I jumped the light and lost. Did you see it? Paul came in next to last because he was hanging to to Stella's electric chair and she dumped him. Stella cheated. Does that make Paul the winner? --- We all are winners.

handicapped laws re avaliability of dental care for quadraplegics?

Every community should have at least one dentist whose office is equipped to handle patients in electic wheelchairs who can't be4 tansferred to the regular dental chair. The entire Norfolk area doesn't have such a dentist. My son is a quad on suctioinm with rotten teeth. He has dental insurance, bu no dentist in the Norfold area can accomodate a patient in an electric chair. One that can't be transfered to the conventional denal chair without the use od a Hoya life.So hse's spent 10 years with abcesseed teeth, actute pain, and the only relief he's gotten is when he goes to the VA for his annual physical they will pull those that are aching. When about the effects of infected teeth on general health? He has dental insurance. What he needs is a dentist.

Ideas from those who know please :)?

I don't need the 'what happened' questions.....

But I have a gal in our trailriding club that was involved in a car wreck and is a quadrapalegic. *if you don't know what that is, please dont answer*

She went from trailriding to a electric chair, moving it with her mouth

She is wanting to of course get back into horses and all of us are racking our brains with ideas.

Of course driving is the only solution, she can't drive, it would be with a person at all times.

However, the wheelchair and her combined weighs 600lbs. Her wheelchair cost as much as my truck.

So for her to run up on a wagon, the suspension needs to be tremendous as to not raise the front up.

Does anyone know of any websites, contacts, advice for her family that they can check into wagons for this purpose?

I can find the teams, not a problem, but the wagon is.

Thanks to all the ones that are decent to answer ;)
Sorry, leaving the wheelchair isn't an option, she has to stay in it, or a bed.

Thanks tho, sorry i forgot to add that.
Fae-while I understand where your coming from, shes a 40 yr old woman, who doesn't want to fantisize on a video.

This can be a reality, with enough minds that have been through this before it can be done.

I'm not looking for Horwse or video game answers. honestly.......

My neighbours handicapped daughter <she's 34> has damaged my garden. What to do? ?

My garden has been damaged i think by accident with her wheelchair. She drove her electric chair through some new grass and shrubs but broke the shrubs in half. Her wheelchair got stuck and her twin sister helped her out but also damaged some plants. She is also handicapped. I complained about it to their carer but she said nothing can be done cos they are retarded. Is this correct or should I ask them to fix it or i'll take further action. The plants are expensive. The handicapped daughter uses a computer to communicate like an electronic voice. So difficult to undertand her.
Her care worker told me that there is important news about the twin sisters. Apparently they caused so much damage in their previous property the social team had to move them out of the house. She said that the previous occupier of my property actually had to report them before too. Apparently their parents are slightly handicapped too so can't control their twin daughters... Even though the daughters are in their 30's. She said if i make a complaint about the twin handicapped daughters and the social team incarcerates them that i'll be to blame for their parents loosing their daughters and also the disability money. What should I do?

What was the name of this movie from the late sixties – early seventies?

It was about this older lady who was in a wheelchair. She had a two story house and her stairs had a special lift or she had an elevator, I forget which. A group of young people (hippies maybe?) came into her home and held her hostage and eventually killed her I believe.. I do know that one of the men (I think it was 2 men and a girl) poked her eyes out and said something like "I'm going to fry in the electric chair baby" Forgive me for being so vague, it was so long ago and I was a child when I saw it.
Yes, that's it, Lady in a cage. Maybe the guy poked the wino's eyes out? I think I was 8 or 9 when I saw this movie. I remember it scared me pretty bad. I'm going to watch it again if I can find it!

My dad has parkinsons and is also in a wheel chair. He can't really control his chair well....i mean he can enough to get around but that is about it (he has an electric chair). Any ideas of what to do? Even if anyone has some creative things besides the dance that I could do with my dad at the reception that would work too.
Oh i really like the idea of a picture slideshow....yea I am open to other ideas in place of the dance...thanks
