if you have bad acne you shud read this?

This isn't a question, but i wanted to share an acne routine that worked for me very well. i used to have really bad acne all over my forehead. i had whiteheads and the red painful ones the most. the routine i use now is a conbination of products my doctor gave me and things i bought at the drugstore

1. i bought a facial scrub at the drug store. it doesnt have to be any particular brand, it just needs to have those hard beads in it that exfoliate your skin. i only do this step a few times a week and when i am in the shower. put a little on your fingertips and rub all over your face, making sure the beads are pressed into your skin with your hands, but dont press so hard that yoiu irritate your skin.

2. i also bought this at the drugstore: Clean and Clear deep action cream cleanser, oil free. follow the directions on the back. i use this before i go to bed and in the morning, so two times a day.

3. apply one of the following treatments to the affected areas depending on the time of day:

a. every morning: duac topical gel (from the dermatologist, ask for it from him). it is a tall thin blue and white bottle. you need a prescription for this. put a pea sized amount on your finger, adn rub over the areas that need treatment. it is expensive (160 dollars) so only use as much as you need.

b. middle of the day, after a practice or after you ahve sweated, or if you feel like your skin is dirty) this is from the drug store: Clean and Clear invisible blemish treatment. it is a .75 ounce bottle, not very big. apply to affected areas. i dont use this every day just when i need to. this is perfect for after gym class, just make sure you cleanse your skin or wash it free of sweat before applying it.

c. before bed: (also from dermatologist) epiduo gel. has differin gel in it. because this is applied before bed, you can blot it on the pimples that need right away attention. this does not work over night but if u blot it over the same pimple for a couple nights in a row, you will see a definate improvement.

so is a 2 step routine every morning and everynight, unless you use the exfoliator on some nights or mornings. the two medications that come from the doctor are benzoyal peroxide medicines. the routine takes a month and half to work completely, but i saw improvements within the first couple weeks. i hope this works for you if you have bad acne like i did. if you have any questions, post them as answers. good luck!

Will my body adapt to my acne treatment?

Basically all it does is dry out the pimple and uses antibiotics to kill it. But will my body get used to the antibiotics and cause it to quite working? Its duac topical gel if it matters

Will using wart treatment (20% salicylic acid) damage my skin if I use it for acne?

I'm trying to come up with a new treatment for acne, since the old stuff I've been using is starting to not work as well. I've tried proactiv, evoclin, retin-a, Duac gel, Doxycicline, and tons of over the counter stuff. Some things have worked, just their effects are starting to wear off. Would using a 20% salicylic acid wart treatment (liquid) just on acne pimples, not the whole skin damage my skin greatly? I just need something a little bit stronger than the over the counter stuff, but I dont have the money to go in for facial peels or proffessional treatments.
To those who say it will overdry-I'm only spot treating it. I know that obviously putting the stuff on my entire face might even kill me. hmm does anyone know where they might have it in 3-10%? 1 or 2% just is way too gentle.

Need help with my acne on what I should do?

Ok so Im 18, and im starting college in a few days. Im a guy btw, and I didnt get acne until about a year ago. Before that I had a few pimples, but besides that everyone told me that I had really good skin. Now I've used benzoyl peroxide for 2 years, and Ive been on minocine for almost a year, but i still have acne. Even when on minocine my acne never completely went away, and now Im just sick of it. I want to grow up and out of it, but I dont know how. I've done laser treatments, cortisone shots, ive used demotoligist reccomended duac gel, ice. It seems like Ive done everything, yet it still hasnt gone away like i expected. Now my doctor has prescribed me some doxycycline, but I really dont want to take any more antibiotics, because i hate having to take it on an empty stomach, and i hate having to go home and wash my face during the night so i dont break out in the morning. I just want to have a normal college life and be able to stay out late with friends and sleep over at other peoples dorms without having to worry about a nightly procedure. Now I have mentioned acutane to my doctor and he said that i didnt think i needed it, and now im not so sure if i should take it because i hear it has a lot of side effects, (like depression), and my mom took acctane when she was older and now she has depression, so i really dont know if i want to take the risk.

anyway i guess what i am asking is what advice can you guys give me? I just hate having acne because its really been cutting into my social life lately. none of my friends have acne anymore and its hard to go out and be myself knowing im the only kid with it. thanks for the help, it feels good to express myself. =]

how to permanently clear acne?

I don't have severe acne. But I have little pimples scattered all over my face. I have tried EVERYTHING. I use Duac, Retin-A, and Doxycycline all prescribed by my dermatologist. Sometime my skin will get clearer but there is ALWAYS something. It is NEVER clear. I have also tried numerous cleansers and over the counter spot treatments. NOTHING works! It really affects my self esteem and I want to get rid of it so badly. Can you tell me any products that worked for you? If you tried everything like I have was there one that finally got rid of your acne for good?

Acne treatment cream/gel that actually works?

..that doesn't cause dryness, redness and itchiness the next day after you wake up, and prevents future breakouts. I've already tried Retin-A, Duac, (even taken accutane pills), all kinds of topical gels, and nothing seems to work. :( Which ones have you used that actually works and doesn't do the things I've just mentioned? Thanks.
