How much is a visit to the Dermatologist without health insurance?
I've tried everything and I can't get rid of my acne. I don't have health insurance because I've turned 19 and I only have a part-time job and am a part-time student. How much would it cost to go to a dermatologist and get a prescription?
I live in Rochester MN with the Mayo Clinic so I will probably go there.

Question about accutane?
I have had persistent acne since I was in about 5th grade. I am a senior in high school now. I was on minocycline and tetracycline at different times, and I have been on Bactrim for the past year. Bactrim has definitely been the most effective treatment so far. It has cleared my face up to a certain degree. I still end up with little patches here or there consistently. Few pop up, go away, then more come in a different spot. I don't think I'm as consistent with taking the bactrim as I could be though.
Even though my acne has gotten much better than previously, I am still so tired of having to deal with never having a completely clear face. It has been such a long time.. I now have plenty of acne scars, which is just awesome... and I don't want to continue. I just want to have a perfectly clear face, for once.
I went to the dermatologist about a month ago, and she set me up to start going on accutane a month from that. The last time I had a visit to the derm, she was the one that had suggested I should try accutane. I have been pondering it for months, and this last time I decided I would do it. My derm said that basically being on Bactrim for a long time could be just as risky as being on Accutane, so I mine as well try something new & more effective. So, I am supposed to be starting accutane in 10 days. I have to get bloodwork done a few days beforehand.
There is, however, still time for me to back out of it. I was planning to go get bloodwork done tomorrow morning, but I have been reading really negative reviews and it's really making me second guess my decision- once again.
I just want to know if you think it would be worth it and what your personal experiences have been. I'm afraid of the long-term side effects.
Thanks(: !
How long does it take to recieve accutane?
I went to see a doctor today for a referral to a dermatologist.
I'm wondering how long will it approximately take for my dermatologist call me to come in.
My doctor also said it's likely I will be prescribed accutane. How long will it take me to recieve it? With all the blood tests and all? I am a male.
How much would it cost if i visit a dermatologist due to acne problems?
I'm 18 and my acne problems is starting to annoy me. If so, this is the first time I will go to a dermatologist, how much would it cost? including the check-up and the doctors prescription?
Also, will it eliminate my problems with acne? How long will it take? thanks!
Best prescription acne treatment?
I've been using benzaclin for years, I know its supposed to be one of the best products but in the past 6-7 months it's been getting less and less effective for me.
I have an appointment with a dermatologist next Friday and I'm wondering if there's any prescription acne meds I should ask him about.
Acne medicine not working?
Im 14. I got prescribed Ziana for acne. My dermatologist said to use it for 2 months and see if it helps. I used it probably everyday(or at leas every other day) for a month. It seemed like it did nothing. I mean, i know it takes 2 months, but shouldn't I see SOMETHING by now? I went to the store and bought Burts Bees Acne spot treatment to try cause i've heard it works. I'm just afraid to keep using it cause i go back to the dermatologist in a month and he's going to ask if i've been using it and if i said it didn't work and i only used it for a month, he'll get mad at me. Should i try out the Ziana for another month, or not?
How can i get rid of the rash on my nose?
Every summer I get a red rash on my nose that looks like acne but it's not, it's just many tiny/medium sized red bumps especially on the tip of my nose. I don't know how to get rid of it and it just breaks out randomly and won't go away. This year, it seems to have started after I was outside in the sun one day and got worse everyday after that. My acne medicine doesn't help it and my Aveeno moisturizer seems to have made it worse over night. I also use a Neutrogena Adult Acne Treatment set every other night to help my breaking out and get rid of my old acne scars and was wondering if that could possibly help or make it worse. Any ideas how I could clear this up because it seems like it may be spreading to my cheeks a little as well. I'm pretty sure it's not rosacea but I'm not sure. I've been to a dermatologist (for my acne) and she never identified me as having any signs of rosacea. Any ideas are much appreciated!
