How long does it take for skin to grow back?
** Do NOT read this if you're easily disgusted. **
I got four big water blisters on the soles of my feet just five days ago & they've all healed so I had to cut the dry skin off. Now, I'm left with four craters on my feet & it feels SOOO weird when I walk. How long is it going to take for the skin to grow back?
What is a good natural home remedy to improve acne scars?
I have had breakouts since I was about 12 and every once in a while still do. What makes it worse is I have the habit (sometimes even unconsciously) of touching/picking at my face a lot and as a result my skin, if you look closely, has a lot of tiny craters and scars from the acne. My pores also seem to be getting bigger the older I get (I'm 25).
My skin seems to fluctuate between being way too oily and way too dry. When I put on foundation it just seems to appear dry and flaky, even if I've used moisturizer first. Other times it feels like someone just poured oil on my forehead. I can't figure out how to get an even balance, but I just want to have the smoother skin I used to have even just a couple years ago.
I would love to get microdermabrasion but I can't afford it right now. I would love to hear suggestions on how to smooth out my face with cheap store-bought items or simple home remedies. I've heard lemon juice helps, as well as Vitamin E oil. Any others?
I'm not necessarily looking for acne treatment suggestions, as that's not my primary concern right now. I want to shrink the pores and craters on my face so it looks smoother. Even a little more expensive suggestions (but cheaper than microdermabrasion) would be appreciated!
What kind of acne and skin regenerative method(s)/product(s) actually work? Advice welcome as well.?
I have VERY oily skin; my face would become shiny and oily within minutes after I wash/clean/wipe it. I used to wash my face like 5 times a day until a friend told me that washing my face too much can actually cause it to be more oily, so now I only wash it twice a day -- still oily.
I had severe acne during my early teenage years, which left behind a lot of dark spots and scars (including craters). I still have moderate-severe acne problems.
I've tried almost every commercial acne products & even some Chinese herbal remedies. Products that I've tried include: Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Clearasil, Oxy, Noxema, Cetaphil, Lancome, Proactiv, St Ives, Biotherm, & even oral & topical antibiotics. None worked!
I mostly get those BIG & PAINFUL acne. It gives me a headache when I get them around my sinuses. I have lots of BLACKHEADS that can't be removed with those "strips." I'd put on gloves and squeeze them out & same with pop-able pimples.
I also have acne on my back and chest. =(
RE: Smiley
Thanks for your response and suggestion. I tried Proactiv and I think I was allergic because my face became swollen within minutes after use. I found that happens to some people, too. I tried it again years later because my cousin was using it (she had a few of those tiny itty-bitty blemishes) & the same thing happened. =(
Isn't Neosporin oily?
RE: Cory C
Thanks for the suggestion. Sorry that I forgot to mention that I do use a moisturizer. I use Olay beauty liquid. It's oil-free, hypoallergenic, and light-weight. I must agree, it does help reduce my skin's oiliness, BUT face would turn into an oiled pan after a few hours. I'm no lying.
RE: evening.mood
I was using this clay-like mask called J.B. Element from a Chinese company called JenBeauty; the company is located in California, but it's mostly operated by Chinese people. The mask helped reduce my acne, reduce oil production, whiten/lighten dark spots, and kind of speed up healing, BUT it's expensive (in my POV). It's really weird! After I wash off the mask, my skin actually feels a bit oily...but in a soothing way. Usually, I cannot put any oil on my skin, but that mask was just weird. I know very little about that mask and couldn't find out much because it was all Chinese, and most Chinese commercials gloat about their products. Not all products from this company work, but that mask sure worked for me. Not exactly a miracle but better than everything that I've tried.
RE: Irie79
Thank you for the very detailed advice. I asked my doctor about Accutane, but she said my acne was not severe enough to put me on it. My acne always gets better when I'm about to go see the doctor, but once I'm home I'd turn back into a zit bomb. I was using both birth control and antibiotics at the same time, but it didn't really help. Like, it helped, but it didn't "clear everything up." I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). I'm not sure how that affects my acne or how it affects my doctor's decision when it comes to prescribing me medication. It's all so frustrating.
Help me save my own life?
I have become just down right pathetic.
Right now I am 17, I have terrible grades going into senior year (F's, wont be graduating with my class unless I take a course outside highschool) I have very few friends and they really dont like me much. I sit at home and play a game Age of Conan all day every day. My life came to this more and more since my freshman year every day and now here I am. I am so afriad of people looking at me I am always so paranoid over my acne. I am absoulutly paranoid about it.
Well I know this is going to sound vain but this is all because of my acne. I feel embarrassed to go outside, I never want to leave the house, I am so depressed over my acne. I never look people in the eye when I am talking to them and I just admit I am an overall boring person and I feel terrible 24/7. I feel like there is no point to school and I never want to do anything. I smoke weed because it really is all I have other then video games and my cat...
This is about 95% of the time. When my acne is clear, which it is once in a blue moon...I go out, I am fun, entertaining, I have motivation for school and do my work and study, I dont feel I need weed at all...I just feel great, and I am great, people seem to notice, girls approuch me like crazy..I just am on top of everything
I know acne is my problem, please don't detour it from that...its destroying my life.
I am not an ugly person (I am actually pretty attractive I guess...) but the acne makes me feel ugly. What I get is moderate pimples, and then sometime I get HUGE ones like craters and thats when I go to my all time lows. I just try basic acne store bought kits and they dont seem to do much at all. I drink only water, I am 130 pounds and 5'7 I eat 2 meals a day, just sandwitches, then some light dinner, usually pasta.
If I don't fix this problem now I will keep going down this path and only god knows what will become of me, I dont want to be like this forever. I've read up on this site and it seems some people may be able to help. My parents dont have the money for any kind of too expensive medical treatment. I also cant get a job because of my serious just problems with my acne/social issues.
does exposed acne treatment works?
does it work effectively on your whiteheads??? is it too strong for me because i have a few small whiteheads on my nose??
and does it help you prevent or treat those "small craters" on your face?? i only have a small and really few of those so does it??
and the website you guys put doesnt help me at all.
Dermabrasion for Acne, Dr. John Yarborough of NOLA?
I am considering dermabrasion for my acne scars. I do not have ice pick scars, so to say, but more of deep, rolling crater like scars along my cheeks. Here's a little about my history:
-Antibiotics throughout high school for acne/Benzaclin and retina A topical treatments
-03-04 Smooth Beam to help prevent breakouts
-After the smooth beam my acne became nodular and cyste like.
-Went on accutane once all options failed.
-Accutane cleared my nodular acne, but because of my cronic 'picking' and my skin being more prone to scars, my cheeks were left with craters =(
-A year after the Accutane (05-06) I began microdermabrasion periodically and Fraxel 1540 laser treatment.
-The microdermabrasion did not improve my scars, but helped with redness and just made my skin feel soft. The Fraxel did help with surface scars, but now a year later (07-08) and after normal breakouts, it seems my skin had degressed- not nearly as bad as before, but not as smooth as it was following the laser.
I am now considering surgical dermatology, probably subcision technique or even more so, dermabrasion. I am 24 years old, still have acne (normal surface acne, a few small pimples here and there). I want to have the surgery, but read where active acne cannot be present. Well...I've had acne since I was 12. Its been 12 years, still no change. I don't want to go through my 20's and 30's waiting for it to stop so I can get rid of my scars. Is it ok to have a few breakouts and still undergo Dermabrasion?
Even more importantly, I am looking for personal experiences with Dr. John M. Yarborough of new orleans. found only positive things about him so far, and I am about 45 minutes from New Orleans so it would be awesome to use him!
I dont mean to be rude, but please DONT offer me alternative solutions to my scarring. Believe me, I've tried it all. No topical solution works for my acne, and I am tired of expensive lasers that do not work for me.
I am treating my SCARS not ACNE. Please, as I already asked, don't offer your advice for acne treatment. I'm looking for personal accounts or information on surgical treatment for SCARS, I.E. Dermabrasion.
Is there any ways to get rid of acne that actually work?
Okay, so I have fairly light acne, I can't help but pick, but they always turn out fine and don't leave scars. They just turn into like freaking' craters for a while. So is there any like.. average household products you can use to get rid of or prevent acne?
ProActive is sh!t.
