If it is said that people no longer grow after bone plates fuse, why do people with acromelagy still grow?
I'm wondering if we are all looking at the wrong point of view on human bone growth as people with acromelagy can still keep on growing even after they are way past their puberty and growing age. If it is said that bone plates will fuse after their growing age thus stopping height growth, how come people with acromelagy can still continue growing?
In case you dont know, acromelagy is a syndrome of overly active pituitary gland in the brain usually caused by tumours in that area which causes it to keep on producing growth hormones. So is the concept of height growth false in this matter? Science sure has a lot of explaining to us...
What I mean is that it is the growth hormone production in acromelagy causing people to keep on growing is contradicting with the bone plate fusion theory which states that upon reaching adulthood it fuses and people wont grow from that anymore
is it possible for a fully grown person to continue growing with the use of drugs?
The tallest man ever recorded, Robert Wadlow, reached an unprecedented 8 feet 11.09 inches (2.72 m) in height and weighed 440 pounds at his death. His great size and his continued growth in adulthood were due to hypertrophy of his pituitary gland which results in an abnormally high level of human growth hormone. He showed no indication of an end to his growth even at the time of his death. Do you think this could be induced artificially?
will doctor give me accutane on my first visit?
I have never been to a dermatologist before and tomorrow will be my first time going to one. I have been dealing with on and off again acne since I was 14. I have had every kind of pimple in the book, cystic, white heads, black heads, nodules, you name it, Ive had it. It wasn't until recently and i would say about two months ago that I started breaking out worse than I ever have in my life.
I am now 18 and have acne like a 13 year old going through puberty.
I'm so sick of dealing with this problem and I just dont want to have to deal with it while going into adulthood where I would like to go to school, and start a career and live my life. Lately, I have been getting severe acne and just one after another, after another. Mostly every part of my face right now is covered in either a scab/scar from a pimple or just a plain pimple. I feel like every morning I wake up, there is a new pimple on my face. I am hoping that tomorrow my doctor will see my skin and the massive amounts of marks and pimples that my face has and will instead of prescribing some worthless cream, will prescribe me accutane so that I cant fight this and rid it for good.
I've tried practically every type of product on my face, ProActiv, Acne Free, Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Philosophy, Biore and I am currently using St. Ive's, which I found worked for me tremendously before my breakout and has now suddenly not worked for me like it use to.
I know a friend of mine who is on doxycycline and her results looks great, although her acne wasnt as bad as mine is now. I considered that and thought it would be a good idea but after watching all these videos on youtube of people filming their accutane diaries and noticing how their skin isnt even remotely as bad as mine is to begin with and then seeing their results and how they praise the stuff up and down. It's only made me crave it even more..
so my question is, after all this ranting, is do you think the doctor would prescribe me accutane even though this is my first visit to him?
I'm so frustrated cause I had gone and he prescribed me minocycline and it isnt working at all and ive been taking it for three days and am religously using the damn duac and retin a. NO RESULTS. it just makes my pimples less red but i dont want pimples AT ALL.
also, it's doing absolutely nothing for my scars and dark spots from previous pimples.
Can the growth hormone increase or affect the penis size?
just asking i love my size..oohhh also can it increase during puberty or shrink and adulthood...
16 years old and 5′ 2”, should I take Human Growth Hormone (HGH)?
Is it legal for a doctor to give me Human Growth Hormone even though I do not have a disease and I just want to be taller? My mom is 5' 3'', so its in my genes. I've heard that if I am going to take hormones to increase my height I must do it now, there is not way to increase height once you've reached adulthood. Is HGH safe as long as it is administered by a doctor?
