  1. (I’m a wheelchair technician with 15+ years of experience).

    1. Talk to your doctor or physical therapist about your chair ideas, In most states one or both has to sign off on the plan.

    2. Talk to your wheelchair dealer. The BEST chair is one that can be worked on quickly and locally when it goes down.

    3. Electric chairs are great, but remember- they cost a LOT more, are harder to use in the typical home or in many places in the community, and they break down more often and cost more to maintain.

Often, people in electric chairs loose tone and function quickly, so your support team may recommend you use a manual chair while you can.

    Good luck!

  2. e maail me at Sonleppe@aol.com I may have what you need

  3. An electric chair is a good idea. Make sure it fits through all doorways and in and out of bathrooms. If possible I would get one with removable or adjustable arm rests. That way you can transfer on/off the toilet, onto a shower chair, etc with greater ease and less chance of a fall. There are plenty of resources that can help you decide what is going to work best and I would check what works with your insurance. P.S. I hope you do physical therapy and get a prosthetic so you can walk again!!!

  4. hey it’s probably best to talk to a doctor and they can help you chose one that will suit you living conditions (house doorways etc.). It’s a good idea to to get an eletric one though :)
