Should I give my child growth hormone injections?

Ever since my daughter was 7 years old she was much shorter than her classmates. She is currently in the third grade, the shortest girl in her class and always complains about her short stature. It's beginning to worry me, because both my husband and I are average height and were never that short at her age.
She will be starting puberty in a few years, and I've been
considering growth hormone injections for her. But I've read
about the side affects of these injections and they seemed VERY risky.
Should I risk the side affects for her height?
The pediatrician had said that she was growing very slowly for her age, but has not mentioned anything growth hormone injections.

  1. I have been taking growth hormone injections for 6 years and have experienced no side effect whatsoever. The self-confidence boost will be worth the risk.

  2. Maybe she’s malnourished?

  3. Wow FAIL parent. Sure if you want your child to die. You should have not reproduced..

  4. No. Your daughter could shoot up in height any moment… Unless she’s a dwarf, I see no reason for her to have those injections.

    Take care,

  5. HELL NO!!
Growing children don’t need hormone injections just because they’re a little short!
I was the shortest kid in my class all through primary school, til I shot up at the beginning of high school.
Just give it some time. Is it really worth the horrible risks to your daughter just so she can fit in more comfortably in school… for NOW??!

  6. no. make sure she eats a balanced diet and a vitamin she’ll be fine

  7. Nooo, not unless the doctor tells you that it would be a good idea. Just make sure she is getting enough calcium and protein. And anyways even though she is short height doesn’t much matter.

  8. If there is an abnormality in the pituitary gland and there is a risk that her growth would be prematurely capped, bringing on developmental problems in other areas… probably.

If she is genetically composed to be short… absolutely not.

  9. My son was always much shorter than his classmates (at least a head or more shorter), at the age of 15 he was only 5′… and then he went ballistic and hit 6’3" by the time he was 18. His dad’s only 5’10" and I’m 5’9"

Don’t even consider it until she at least hits puberty.

  10. I think you should at least wait until she has reached puberty. Some people just grow slower than others and then catch up later. If she hasn’t started puberty by, say, 14 years old then maybe you should consider talking to a doctor about it. Don’t give her these injections if she is only in third grade. I think you’ll find she’s just a late bloomer.

  11. If anything, I would look for natural herbal supplements that boost blood serum HGH levels, just to give her a boost. I wouldn’t prescribe HGH until she’s well into puberty, because she might have a growth spurt before then. Also, check to make sure her diet promotes growth. They say milk helps you grow, and my dad is living proof of that. He is the only one of three brothers to drink milk everyday of his life, and he is damn near a foot taller than both of them.

  12. I have been short all my life. In school, I was always the shortest. My parents were also normal height. (Dad- 5"8 Mom- 5”5) It didn’t effect me a lot and it still does not.

I grew 5 inches after i went through puberty.

I rather be short then take medication.
