Roadside service question?

I quit driving a car a long time ago, but I recently acquired a used electric wheelchair/scooter. I had new batteries installed, and it seems to work just fine, but I have been wondering about being stranded somewhere by a mechanical failure or accident. A search with Google turned up at least one firm offering roadside assistance for stranded electric scooters in the UK, but I'm in Arizona. I'm curious to know if anyone is aware of such a service in the Phoenix area. Something as simple as a flat tire could be a disaster for me, as I am no longer able to walk. Thanks.
To Charley's Son: Thanks, but the last time I bet on the outcome of a trial was in my first year at law school. Pointless, anyway... I have Stage III metastatic papillary carcinoma---thyroid cancer---which has spread into my chest. It will be a while before the Court might hear the case, and I'm not doing any long-range planning at the moment. If I'm still around, though, I'll be watching for the outcome.

  1. Interesting concept for a business idea. I live in AZ, too. Although I don’t have a mobility problem, I do know from my line of work that your wheelchair is considered a vehicle (just like a bicycle). Call and insurance company to see what they offer. I would suspect that you can get insurance to cover damages to the wheelchair, including theft and/or breakdowns (just like a car). Don’t know what the premiums would be for that type of coverage. But you may find it cheaper to call a cab (via cell phone) and advise them of your situation (you need a van to take you to a destination). Then address the repairs later.

  2. You got me… I find this for you. http://inhut.info/108688/electric-wheelchair

  3. Sorry to hear about your situation. This is off topic but I have to post here since you don’t accept emails. I’m certain the Supreme Court will rule Obamacare unconstitutional. Do you care to place a wager with me?
