PCOS: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

www.nucleusinc.com This 3D medical animation describes PCOS, polycystic ovary (ovarian) syndrome. The animation begins with the normal anatomy and physiology of the ovaries, including the effects of certain hormones on the ovaries during the menstrual cycle. Then, what is known about the pathophysiology of PCOS is shown, including abnormal amounts of specific hormones and how they cause certain symptoms, such as infertility, acne, and abnormal hair growth. Treatments for PCOS are described, including hormonal birth control, anti-androgens, diabetes and fertility medications, and laparoscopic ovarian drilling.

  1. there are 123 alternative method to treat and cure the human body …. only allopathic system is not the total care …. like it said … there is no known cure for this system … its only mean … there is no known cure as per their system i.e. allopathic system of treatment …. so, people need to educate them selves regarding other system

  4. Had my tubes tied in 2007 through laparoscopy. Thinking nothing else major could happen. 2008 till now cysts balding, pain daily I was diagnosed with PCOS and Adenomyosis a few weeks ago. I am also high risk for cancer because my mom died at 51 from breast cancer and brain cancer she had 10 brain tumors, and bone cancer as well. I just got my BRaC gene Test done just waiting for the results .I have to see an endocrinologist in a few days I am now 29 years old. Can you do a video on Adenomyosis?

  5. I have severe PCOS (obesity & difficulty losing weight, hirsutism, scalp hair loss, many, many skin tags, acanthosis nigricans, high triglycerides, high BP). I’ve been taking medroxyprogesterone to control my thickened endometrium. The only real help for obese women with PCOS is weight loss, and it’s extremely difficult. I will be having duodenal switch surgery to lose weight. learn about it at dsfacts dot com Many obese women with PCOS who can’t lose weight have had great success with it.

  6. very informative

  7. hahaha… thats a vagina :D

  8. kind of a side topic question related to this,- but why does an increase/excess in insulin production cause type 2 diabetes? (isn’t the purpose of insulin meant for controlling blood sugar?)

  9. please keep posting videos in English, thank you

  10. @TheHeavensReject because too much insulin will cause the body to resist it and not take it, so as you can see, it defeats the purpose of controlling blood sugar levels.
and then you have to take diabetes medication to force the body to absorb insulin correctly.

  11. great and completed video, is very easy and more simple to see fisiology and theatrament of PCOS, Tanks.

  15. My daughter has PCOS. She is sixteen was diagnosed last year, I believe. I didn’t understand it until your video. Thanks so much. I can’t seem to find a endocrinologist to follow her because she is so young.

  16. Thankyou for your video. I was diagnosed when I was 15yrs old. The only advice I get from my specialist here in NZ is to loose weight.I have been on most meds and just end up sick and very moody from all the hormones.I am wanting to try metformin. As ive got older my pcos has got really bad unwanted hair and acne which I never used to get and the pain with abnormal periods. I didn’t quite understand what is happening inside me until you loaded this clip. Nice and easy. So thankyou

  17. I have been diagnosed w/ PCOS.My problem is that i would only menstruate 1-2x in a year.plus i keep gaining weight ever since i had my first cycle.i have a twin, so i thought it was normal. The OBgyne adviced me to lose weight and went into hormone therapy for 10days, then metformin the succeeding days.
My bloodsugar is within the normal range, so i stopped the metformin. but after watching, i think I’ll go take it again.

  21. i have pcos and i havent had a period for around 5 years… it sucks and sometimes i feel like i should have male genitals because i dont feel evry femenin.. i guess i felt that when i do whave the flow.. i feel more femenin.. and when i dont.. i feel more the other way.. it disturbing as i really want some form of normality in my life.

  22. @TheHeavensReject Insulin resistance occurs because the cells do not respond to insulin. Therefore, the pancreas has to produce more insulin to overcome the resistance. Eventually, the pancreas will get exhausted and stops producing insulin. This causes type 2 diabetes.

  23. excellent video. good for getting the concept cleared..

  24. Thank u now i cant sleep again O_O

  25. @dreamer12905 That is exactly what I was going to say. I was diagnosed 6 years ago and I learned more from this video than I ever have at the doctor’s office.
