How to stay calm and not become nervous?
I'm having six teeth taken out in a couple of days and I've never had teeth taken out before. I am deathly afraid of the dentist and going for check-ups even make me anxious. She's quite an impatient dentist and if I show signs of nervousness she won't tolerate it. I'm afraid of the injections to numb my mouth more than anything for fear of them really hurting because all I've heard from people is about how much they hurt. How can I stay calm in the situation and how bad is having teeth taken out/getting the injection?

The Injection is a tiny pin prick and its over in about 10 seconds, i recommend not thinking about it until its actually in your mouth, block out all thoughts of it. Just go in and get it over with, waiting longer and thinking more of it makes you more and more anxious and reluctant to having it done. Having your teeth taken out doesn’t hurt you may feel some tugging and pulling but nothing to worry about. Its harder and will take longer when your more reluctant,, GOOD LUCK!

It helps to face the feeling head on. If you start getting nervous, just take a minute to look inside yourself and feel the feeling. As long as you face the anxiety instead of ignoring it, you will feel better.

I really wouldnt know, but im terribly afraid of needles and my father used to tell me that it will pay off and pain will only last a while. That usually calms me down.

My sister had to get 8 teeth taken out, and the only pain she felt was the aftermath. When she got the procedure, she didn’t feel much pain, because I think she was knocked out a little-but it doesn’t take very long for them to do it anyway. Don’t be worried about it, just think about how many other people have done it in the world, even in that same place you are going to get it done. Good luck, you’ll do fine. :)
