How on earth do you break the cycle of bulimia?
I'm trying to get into nursing school. I'm taking classes. I'm drowning because I can't take care of myself. I'm relieving my anxiety by bingeing and purging and I can hardly function. My grades are average when I am capable of the highest grades and I'm exhausted mentally physically and emotionally. Bulimia takes so much time and energy and then it just leaves you drained and so I'm asking if anyone knows how to break this cycle...or at least what's the first step...or what do you tell yourself everyday to begin the process of stopping this awful thing.
To the fourth answerer...do you honestly think that I am choosing this??? You need to think about what bulimia and any addiction is. Do you the predisposing factors for it are actually perfectionsim and low self-esteem..and actually have nothing to do with intellectual ability. Therefore, one would not CHOOSE this especially when I obviously know the detrimental effects to all parts of me. Get a clue. Do you know how many nurses smoke??? Are you surprised that they would even consider nursing when they smoke??? I think that I will stick with nursing thank you very much. You sound like a B-t-h. Sorry.. but you have it all wrong. I hope that you never have to overcome an addiction. Read up on bulimia so that you can choose to be more informed.

rehab is probably the most effective way
or try a support group or talk to someone.. thats pretty much all you can get as an answer.. but just try and stop or relax if you are really stressed

You need profesional help.
Rehabilitation is the only answer.
Taking care of yourself is of utmost importance now. Get yourself back on track and then try and continue the nursing school, but if it’s too stressful find another vocation, sweetie.

First of all you have to think long and hard. I am quite surprised being interested in the nursing field that you would even consider something so demeaning to your health. You are exhausted mentally and emotionally because you have no nutrition or nutrients working in your brain. That is what keeps the momentum going. Proper eating, rest and supplements.
You really need to take care of yourself before you do more harm to your body than good. If its to be skinny, trust me its not worth it. You can damage your heart and impair your reproductive system all together. You need to pace yourself in your studies. Get some rest. Eat three proper balanced meals a day. Take Vitamins and minerals to balance out your mind and give you more energy. Then you will have the momentum to carry out your objective. They also won’t take candidates for nursing school if you are a danger to yourself. Believe me bulimia is not well hidden from a medical professional.
