How many Calories a day should I be eating while doing p90x?

I'm a vegan that eats extremely healthy, but I'm wondering how many calories I need if I'm following the classic p90x program?

  1. You need to work out your resting metabolic rate ( RMR ) which is the number of calories your body NEEDS to breathe, pump blood , grow hair, blink etc and to stay alive. You do this by your body weight (in lbs ) X 10. That will give you your RMR in calories.
Second, calculate your daily activity burn – the calories required for daily movement apart from exercise.
So do this by your RMR X 20%.
    3. Calories required for your exercise needs which for P90x is estimated at around 600 calories.
do the equation: Your RMR + Daily activity burn + 600= energy amount.
    E.g. a 6ft, 180lbs man.
    To calculate his RMR it would be 180 * 10 = 1800
    Daily activity burn = 1800(his RMR)*20%=360
    Exercise Calories= 600
    Energy Amount = 1800+360+600=2760

then there are 3600 calories in 1 pound if you want to lose 1 pound a week you need to burn 600 more calories then you take in.

    There you go.

  3. hey Cash –

Calculating calories for P90X is a pretty simple process but make sure that you adjust the "recommended" calorie intake for your goals. Are you looking to lose weight? Gain muscle? This will either increase or decrease your "suggested calorie intake".

    Bring It!
