How many active pills do you have to take of the birth control pill before it becomes effective?
I've been on the pill for three months now, I was just wondering after you finish taking the white sugar pills and go onto the active pills, how many do you have to take before you can have unprotected sex? Like when do they start working properly?

Now that you have been taking it for so long, you would be protected at any time (so long as you are taking it correctly). When you first start taking it, some doctors say it takes a month, but my doctor has said one week of taking it is all that’s required.
But if you forget to take it or anything like that, then you need to take it for 7 days in a row before you are safe.
