How long should sprint vs jogging to lose weight.?
I've been jogging everyday for the last 3 weeks. I always jog for an hour a day at a 15 minute per mile pace. Or 4 mph. I've been trying to aim for losing 2-3 pounds a week.
Now I want to add sprinting to my regimen but I'm not exactly sure how. How could I add sprinting to my schedule without burning myself out. Thanks for any help.

If your only goal is to lose weight, then sprinting more often than jogging will actually be the most effective. Its all about getting your heart rate up (really high), and getting it up often. Also, when jogging, one of the best things you can do is intervals, for example: two minutes slow pace then one minute fast (then repeat for the entire jog). This again is all about getting your heart rate up as high as you can for that minute, resting for the next two to bring it back down, and then shooting it back up again. Last tip is to jog for shorter periods of time but at a higher intensity. Jogging at a slow pace for a long period of time (an hour or more) only teaches your body to be able to do the same amount of work next time using fewer resources (burning less calories). You can easily lose 2-3 pounds a week (at least in the beginning) by jogging/springing only 20 minutes a day, but it has to be INTENSE. Hope this helps and good luck! As far as not burning out… eat well, sleep lots, don’t exorcise more than an hour a day, and take AT LEAST one day completely off per week.

try sprinting for 10 yards then jog sprint again then jog sprint again then jog. each week try to up it by 10 yards. your endurance will build then you’ll be able to sprint longer distances
