How long should I let my muscles rest after workout for great results?



On one day I do biceps, triceps, and shoulders. On the next day I do chest and back workouts. How many days or how long should I wait to let my muscles rest and repair before I work out again to gain great results?

  1. You should rest each muscle group at least one day, but if you do a session to work on your legs (or just go for a run) on the third day, then repeat those 3 sessions, with a rest on the 7th day, then you should be fine.

    By doing that, each muscle group is getting two work outs a week, with 3 or 4 days between each one, which is ample rest.

  2. It depends, but at least 1 day and sometimes up to 3 days, usually 2 days is enough.
