How long is the process before you get the braces actually placed on your teeth?

I mean like how many appointments & things like that.
How many weeks or months does all the consultation x-rays & moldings take?
I want to know because I have a consultation soon & want to be prepared & I'm excited so I don't want it to take long before I actually get my braces placed on my teeth.

  1. First, I had to go in and see if I even needed braces. Once they approved me, I came back in for X-Rays.

    Then I got impressions.

Then I got MORE X-Rays and several PICTURES taken while smiling/biting down.

    Then I got spacers.

Then I got MORE impressions for my palatal expander.

Then they put the spacers back in.

It’s been a month, so I’ve had my spacers in for almost a total of 2 months.. and my next appointment is tomorrow, which I when I get the palatal expander. After that, I’ll be getting the braces.

All together, it’s been around 5-6 months. It just depends on your orthodontists, a lot of people don’t even need an expander.

  2. The consultation and all that stuff should take about a month. It really depends how busy your othodonist is . Im getting braces soon too! And i am also excited i hope the process takes a month like they told me it will x )

  3. YOU ARE GETTING BRACES??? COOL. I have had braces for 5 days. Mine took about 3 weeks because I told my ortho I wanted it done fast. :). Braces don’t hurt until 7:00 hours. Then they hurt for about 5 days and you are fine. You still can’t eat to hard food after 5 days tough. It still hurts a little.

  4. Okay well for me:
    I booked a consult on July 28th
and got my braces on a few weeks ago.

So less than a month (:

    Hope this helps!
