  1. Well actually vomiting can be caused by dehydration. If it gets worse you need to get to a hospital where they can give you fluids intravenously.

Best thing that I’ve found to drink is Glaceau Smart Water. This has electrolytes in it and no added sugar, flavorings, etc.

Vomiting is really caused by the brain so if you have a fever or something else going on you will probably vomit a lot. Vomiting and diarrhea are two of the primary things that can dehydrate you.

Once you are able to eat again try scrambled eggs or another source of low fat high quality protein.

Take everything in moderation. Also avoid extra vitamins other than the multivitamin, your body will only flush these out. Contrary to popular belief Vitamin C is not a cure-all, it can actually damage your kidneys if you take too much.

  2. Dehydration can occur at virtually any rate. It all depends on how quickly a person is losing water and how quickly they are replacing it. There is also a wide range of severity from being a few ounces short of fluids to losing so much water that the blood volume is not sufficient. If you can hold down fluids for 10-15 minutes, you will absorb at least some of what you drink. It usually helps to just sip a little bit of fluid every few minutes.
