I was speaking to someone a three days before she fell ill to the stomach flu. I was wondering if and how long it would be before I started showing symptoms. I didn't share food with her, but I was kinda close. Any help is very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
A stomach bug’s symptoms will appear in 12-72 hours (normally within 48 hours) so if you don’t have it after three days, you are in the clear. Stomach bugs are really fast moving so you don’t have to worry about it for long. I’m sure you wont get it at this point. :)
Many people use the term "stomach flu" to describe illnesses with nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. These symptoms can be caused by many different viruses, bacteria or even parasites. While vomiting, diarrhea, and being nauseous or "sick to your stomach" can sometimes be related to the flu – more commonly in children than adults – these problems are rarely the main symptoms of influenza. The flu is a respiratory disease and not a stomach or intestinal disease.
If you’re still feeling well within 5-7 days of exposure, most likely it’s not a "flu" virus your friend has. See the link below for further information.
