How long does it take for Bipolar to be diagnosed?

Once you have been to you GP how long does it take for bipolar to be diagnosed if you have it.
I have just been to my doctor who has refered me to a mental health clinic, I just want to know how long this might take until they say I am bipolar or not?

  1. Well, it took them all of an hour to "diagnose" moi mate …….. "Bipolar" disorder really is just an umbrella name for a collection of food and chemical intolerances …… how do i know?? because i also got branded with that label a few years ago …….. except with me they threw in Schiozphrenia for good measure …… apparently i was "Bipolar/Schizophrenia" …. and was pumped to the eyeballs accordingly with very heavy antipsychotics for a few years …… i doubled my weight within 3 short months thanks to the toxicsludgemeds they had me on …. i ended up having my epiphany ie ~ i’d never felt worse and detoxing off all the meds and getting myself fully assessed by a naturopath who invariably diagnosed me intolerant to lactose, coeliac (intolerant to barley, oats, wheat and rye), severely intolerant to soy and processed sugar and an array of chemicals they use to "preserve" our packaged foods……. seriously buddy, get a second opinion from an wholistic healer such as a naturopath ……. don’t take the prescription meds if and when they do turn round and nicely "pigeon hole" you as being "Bipolar"…. if you don’t really have to.

it wasn’t a shock that i wasn’t "Bipolar / Schizophrenic" ….. i kind of knew that ….. it was, however, a rude shock that "foods" that i thought were nourishing such as milk and dairy, bread, soy milk and prettymuch anything in a packet were actually making me really really really sick ….. to the point of appearing to have mental disorders and very real physical pain ……….. go figure hey …… it took me until a couple of years ago to deal with all the food intolerances …….. i truly can’t believe the difference in my total mind set and the way i feel about my life, my body, my friends …… i’m full of bounce these days…. try and get reassessed by a nutritionally oriented physician or naturopath.

get them to do testing for food allergies/intolerances and chemical sensitivities …….what you ingest and absorb through your skin and breath can have a vast impact on the way you think, the way you feel and your overall health and vitality ……. seriously, you can live a pain free drug free life if you know precisely what chemicals and foods are upsetting your system …. it could be something as simple as lactose intolerance or an intolerance to processed sugar or wheat …… disorders from which people suffer due to intolerances to food or chemicals in their diets can cover almost the whole spectrum of physical and mental illnesses ….. an extraordinary concept but mind blowingly true……. do yourself a huge favor and get reassessed.

in the meantime, try to eat as much whole fresh foods that you prepare yourself that includes a wide range of leafy and green vegies, some low sugar fresh fruits like watermelon, cantalope, pears and strawberries, some lean meats and fishes, brown rice, organic nuts and seeds like almonds, brazil nuts and sunflower seeds and lots of fresh filtered water ………. try your best to cut out packaged foods and eat fresh fresh fresh food ….. feed your body from God’s table and wean yourself off the highly processed, packagedsludge that has little to no nutritional value anyway.

you deserve to feel fabulous in your own skin and you are extraordinary and fabulous …. one of a kind you know……. not another living soul like you.

    (((huggs)))

    peace baby

  2. Well I guess if you’ve been referred to a mental health clinic already then it wont take too long.
Ive been seeing my GP and mental health professionals since I was 17(im now 25) and I have only recently been diagnosed with Bipolar.
There are a few types of bipolar so I guess it takes a while to diagnose it,as it could just be something completely different.

  3. For some people it can take awhile to diagnose bipolar disorder because the symptoms vary from person to person. The doctors at the mental health clinic will do their best to get you the proper diagnosis and some medication if needed. In the meantime there are quizzes online you can take to better understand the symptoms you might be feeling. Best wishes!
