How long does it take a uti to become a kidney infection?

I had a uti 2 and a half months ago, and was prescribed antibiotics to treat it. I took the all of the antibiotics correctly, but the uti came back within a week or so. Since then I've been treating it naturally, and while the symptoms are only very slight, I am wondering how I can know if it is in danger of spreading to my kidneys.

  1. My first UTI spread to my kidneys within 24 hours. I didn’t even know I had a UTI. It didn’t burn or anything but I kept having to urinate every 2 minutes. I woke up in excruciating pain in the middle of the night and went to the doctors asap. He gave me Cipro and it was gone by that night.

From my experience and other stories, kidney infections are very painful and you would probably know if you had one. I would go back and get another antibiotic.

  2. did u talk to your doctor to let him know tht it has come back?????…if not not then u definitely should!!!! and about the kidneys thing..not really sure..but a really good way to avoid it is seing ur doctor again. :)
