Typically the incision is tight and because you have lost a significant volume and length of soft tissue and skin it is not possible to stand upright immediately. I usually recommend that my patients remain slightly bent forward for at least 2 weeks. This will help reduce the tension and stress placed on the scar and facilitate recovery. Patients should be encouraged to walk from day 1 post operatively albeit bent forward, this will reduce the risk of DVT’s and help with healing and inflammation.
After the 2 week mark most patients gradually straighten, the remaining skin of the abdomen will need to grow and stretch with time. The overall result though is of a nice tight flat abdomen.

you should start walking up right in about 30 secs. If you having problems getting up after a tummy tuck, wait until you get up right.
