How do you tell the difference between mucus and pus in your stool?

I was just wondering because when I read up on bowel movements they said mucus can sometimes be clear or a yellowish color. While pus is yellow also. So how do you tell the difference? Btw don't tell me to go to the doctor cause I already did and its just I had a mild case of ibs. But I just wanted to know how you tell the difference between mucus and pus.
