I have a large boil on my chin. How do I know whether its a cold sore or a pimple?

if it’s red and just one, sounds like a zit to me.
cold sores outside the skin, normally u can see clear fluid in it and bubbling. but usually if it’s outside ur face like lips then it’s herpes but will appear to pop out multiple ones.
cold sores are on the lips only i believe.
