How do you recover from a bad panic attack?

I suffered my worst one in several years last night. I took the day off from work today. I am resting and taking it slow. I am waiting to see if I can get into to my counselor. I threw up alot and now I am very sore. I am exhausted and feel weak.

How do you guys recover from a bad panic attack? What do you do to help yourself get back to normal?

  1. Aww…well I hope you feel better :(

  2. Hot bath and relax.
Look back on it for the signs of it coming on, and next time you feel that, do something to prevent the attack. It can be done. I do it all the time.

  3. Oh wow hun…I’m so sorry about your experience =(. Well…you’re basically recovering from it already. You’re taking it easy and resting like you’re supposed to =). And go ahead and talk to your counselor too!

Hope I helped! Good luck! =D

  4. I started to accept my panic attacks I had them for the last 13 years not anymore. I realised that this is just in my mind and that nothing can happen to me .Like you are in panic what is gonna happen you gonna die ??? No i started to make fun of it . And to focus on reality like look how many bad things are in the the world children in africa suffer and stuff like that and i think I got it bad with this stupid panic for nothing. You should try to focus on reality find your self a hobby . Go out with friends do things that you enjoy. That helped me I dont have panic attacks anymore .But it took me 13 years to overcome it . Now I can laugh about it

  5. When I had my very first attack, which was my worst I was a band camp, which can be brutal!! I had no choice but to finish out 9 hours of cardio exercises!! It was so hard!!! But when I have attacks at home I just take it easy for a few days. It usually takes me a few weeks to a month to completly recover

  6. Hi Ben,

I notice that you have a few questions relating to Panic Attacks. While I don’t have these I have had friends who do have them. I suffer from depression and have a bi-polar syndrome, so I empathize with you.
You are seeing a psychologist, which is good. Have you considered getting a good psychiatrist into the mix? I say this because they are the experts on meds. Maybe you need a review of what you are taking. Please consider adding a good psychiatrist into your life. I have both now and it is helping me a great deal (at least for the time being.)
To get back to a truly great space/place try a 20 minute meditation session, at least once a day. You can listen to music, go outdoors in nature, stay in a quiet room…your choice. They all work better than anything else, at least for me. I am 50 years + old so my advice holds some merit where expericence is the teacher.

Good luck. Just remember that there are a multitude of avenues for you to take with thecondition that you suffer from. Check them all out and go with what feels right.

Love, light and peace to you, brother.
