How do you protect arm and wrist injuries while riding a bike?

Nearly two years ago, I broke my arm riding my bike. I fell off and the pressure caused two bones in my arm to break. I don't want to have another experience like this, as I am scarred for life (literally and physically). I had surgery and I have a metal plate in my arm. How should I protect myself against another injury like this?

  1. Don’t fall off your bike for starters.

I guess you could wear some of that off road riding gear, but really, falling off your bike is pretty close to being in a car accident, you’re going to get hurt. The gear will protect against cuts and lacerations, but broken bones are something else entirely.

So if you’re going to ride in such a fashion that falling is going to be a reality, you will need to deal with the reality of being hurt, possibly badly.

  2. maybe wear wrist braces and elbow pads

  3. man up or dont do it?
