How do you preventing your forearms from burning when playing piano?

Recently I had to play in a concert and I had to play 5 ragtime songs in a row. By the 4th song my forearms burned so much that my fingers cramped up. How do I prevent this from happening?

  1. I play piano, but I have never played ragtime music. I usually play classical which requires endurance too. It’s almost like a sport! You just need to practice a TON to build up enough muscle and stamina to play for long amounts of time. I have been playing piano for 4 years now and my forearms don’t hurt anymore because I practice every day.
