How do you deliver artificial breaths when using the jaw thrust technique?

When the spine is injured when attempting resuscitation attempts and you open the airway using the jaw thrust maneuver. how do you deliver artificial breaths by mouth to mouth resuscitation? or is it even possible? if you are a lone rescuer it would be rather difficult to pinch the nose and deliver artificial breaths if both your hands are stabilizing the victims jaws, right?

  1. If you suspect a spinal injury you would use a jaw-thrust maneuver. The jaw -thrust allows you to open the airway so that you don’t have to move the patients head and neck. You would accomplish this by kneeling at the top of the patients head. Place your elbows on the surface on which the patient is lying, putting your hands at the side of the patients head. Next grasp the angles of patient’s lower jaw on both sides. Move the jaw forward with both hands. This moves the tongue forward away from the airway. If this does not work you may have to reposition the jaw and if that doesn’t work you may need to use a oral or nasal adjunct
