How do you cure severe cramps from menstruation?

I've had my period for about a year. But the past few months I started getting my periods later than usual and now on the first day of my period I get these bad cramps. It hurts and I get it in the lower abdomen and I also get diarrhea and vomiting. These cramps make me skip school and they are very painful. After the first day I no longer have any severe cramps. Does any one know how I can cure these cramps and is it normal?

  1. I havent tried any pills but midol is suppsoed to
I went on birth control. IT WORKS.

  2. I don’t think there’s any cures just preventions.
put heat on your abdomen like a heated blanket or hot water bottle
Curling in the foetal position (doesn’t work for everyone)
and for me it’s lots of drugs (only painkillers)

  3. A natural way is get a heating pillow and place over the tummy and take a Midol. As a mom that used to go through that I remember those days. Drink some hot soup and/or tea. mexican cocoa is soothing. Ibarra hot cocoa will help you sleep while curing that chocolate craving. You must be very young because they were more painful in late teens or early 20s. Seetie, I was in your shoes and trust me the cramps later will get lighter.

  5. I had the same problem when I initially started. I used Pamprin until I was ready to leave home for college which was age 17. My family understood the severity of my pain and didn’t want me to endure it alone away from home. My doctor suggested a birth control pill. It really works. The cramps went a way after being on birth control pills for a while.

  6. I hate that! It’s recently been A LOT worse than other times. I would get a washcloth, get it wet and squeeze out excess water, then warm in in the microwave. Rest in on your stomach. Or use a heating pad. Or waterbottle with hot water in it.
Take tylenol or a medication specifically used for cramps if it gets REALLY bad, but make sure to consult your mom. It can cause heavier flow than usual.
