How do I stop my mouth from bleeding after getting 2 baby teeth pulled?

I'm getting 2 baby teeth pulled soon. Last time I got 4 baby teeth pulled and it bled for 6 hours. The teeth are the 3rd teeth from the top middle. How do I stop it from bleeding? Any ideas? The bleeding is the only part of it I really care about because I hate when my mouth bleeds. Also, do you know how long it should bleed for? Thanks.

  1. Firstly, cotton is messy. Gauze shall be more appropriate. Bite firmly on the gauze (make sure you’re biting it against the socket instead of neighbouring teeth). And just don’t disturb it till 24 hours later. If the gauze gets soaked, simply replace it with a new one, but never ever ever rinse it in 24 hours post-extraction. You don’t want to move the blood clot. It’s the key to proper healing. Let’s say you got your tooth extracted during evening, it should’ve stopped bleeding by late at night. If by 24 hours, the bleeding doesn’t stop, immediately seek dental attention.

  2. Get some cotton rags/gauzes, those disposible ones. Fold them over a few times and just bite onto them for a while. You can ask your dentist for them.

  3. Along with the cotton/gauze you can also swish salty water in your mouth. It will burn, but it will also cause those capillaries to tighten up and slow the bleeding.
