How do I get rid of those bumps on my legs? They kind of look like goose bumps?

Not everyone has them, but you know those type of bumps that are on your outer legs and look like goose bumps except their darker then your actual skin tone, how do you get rid of them?

Their not like scars or anything, I have had them my whole life. Their like a ton of tiny bumps. I don't think exfoliating will actually work. How do I get rid of it, so I can have very smooth legs?

Thanks a lot!

  1. I think I know what you are talking about. It’s called Keratosis Pilaris. It is most likely hereditary. It makes your skin look like "chicken skin" or like you have constant goosebumps. The most common place to get them is the backs of arms, thighs and calves.
The good news is that it doesn’t cause any other problems, but the not so good news is that it will most likely never be completely clear.
A helpful thing to do is to exfoliate-gently,nothing rough(that helps only a little-but anything is better than nothing) and stay hydrated.
There is a prescription medicine that your dermatologist can give you but it is very expensive and not usually covered by insurance, since it is only a cosmetic condition. It works very well, though,so if you are willing to spend $50-$60 for the tube it may be worth it to you.
You can also go to the skin lotion aisle in your local drugstore. They have many lotions available specifically for this condition. These creams don’t have the same ingredients as the prescription but are much cheaper-again,they only help a little, they won’t completely get rid of it.Hope this helped!Good luck!

  2. Are you Caucasian? I have seen these on black women but never on white women. Maybe it is a hormonal thing? Razor burn? Allergic reaction to lotion? I don’t know….but I have seen them before.

  3. I think they might be shaving spots or something. I dont know. Goodbye.

  4. They are most likely hair follicles that are inflamed. I’ve seen some people with them. You could try a dermatologist.. he may have to inject them individually to get rid of them.

  5. i have the same thing. a ton of little red goosebump-like things. if they burn, then its likely razor burn. use a good quality shaving cream (not just soap, as many ppl choose to do) if they dont burn, chance are it is still from shaving. try exfoliating before, and moisturizing afterwards. good luck!

  6. Really exfoliating will work. I get those too! They are on the backs of my legs and on the sides and I hate them. I assume you’re of an ethnicity other than Caucasian, so exfoliating everyday shouldn’t irritate your skin. This is what I do, and after about 2 weeks I saw MAJOR difference. Make sure you do this at the end of your shower, so you don’t lose any hydration from the last step:
    1) Scrub area with soapy wash cloth (not too hard, but do use some elbow grease! :))
    2) Use exfoliating "scrubby gloves" (I don’t know what they’re really called, but you can get them at CVS. They’re sort of rough and come in all sorts of colors.). Exfoliate with these, again using soap or shower gel.
    3) Get some " Buffy" from LUSH. Use that on the area. It really buffs and hydrates the skin. (** Store it somewhere where it can dry out between uses or it will melt quickly!)
    4) Use a good moisturizer on the skin. Something thick, like Lucerine Cream. Just makes sure it’s not too watery. If you want to splurge, you could get the L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream.

You can do this once or twice a day if you aren’t too sensitive. Or you can alternate days if you need to… whatever you notice is best for your skin. But this really works for me. I’ve had this problem for years until I did all of that. It’s so much better. But if you quit doing this regularly, the bumps will come back.

Good luck. I hope this helps!
