How can you give aspirin to someone who is having a heart attack?

I read that if someone is having a heart attack, you should give him aspirin. But I mean, if he is starting to get unconscious because of heart attack, how can you give him aspirin? Will he manage to swollow it?

And is it ok to give panadols instead of aspirin? Thanks

  1. You should never give an unconscious person anything. A person who has chest pain from a heart attack can be conscious. You can give them two baby aspirins to chew and swallow as someone is calling 911. Panadols with do nothing to help as they are tylenol not aspirin. It doesn’t need to be baby aspirin either, they are easiest to chew and swallow. A regular aspirin will suffice.

  2. you cant give aspirin in that situation and panadol is not a replacement for aspirin as an antiplatelette agent

  3. Nope, you can’t give an unconscious person anything orally or it may become an airway obstruction. And no to panadols (or tylenol, or other pain killers). Aspirin has a very specific function which is why it is given to people have a heart attack.
