How can I tell if my daughter is smoking?

The only reason I suspect she might be smoking is because she will come home smelling like smoke. Sometimes she'll tell me she's going to a party or concert, so I can see how she might smell of smoke, but a lot of the time she's just going to her friend's house.

How can I tell, without asking her (which I've already tried)?

Thank you!

  1. Look in her eyes when you ask her. You can always tell by the eyes, if someone is telling the truth or lying.

  2. Well she will probably have yellow teeth ( but her teeth might be yellow because of the food she eat ) ,

  3. Ask her again, in a stern tone. If she says no, ask her why she smells like smoke. It could be that her friends smoke around her, or in the vehicle she rides in. If you think she’s lying to you when she says no, search her purse and/or car, and other places she keeps her things. You have the right to do this as a paren.

  4. Tell her her friends mother called n said she found out the "girls" have been smoking n go from there you’d be amazed how the truth comes out when they think their caught be sure to tell her some thing like fess up now and have less punishment good luck

  5. If she’s coming home smelling of smoke fairly often, chances are good it’s not just because she’s "been around it".

Not too many options if she’s already denied it. Check her purse regularly if and when you can. Wouldn’t endorse lying to coerce a confession – that’s just not right.

Another option -and this is only if you are also a smoker – would be to arrange to be together for an extended period of time, perhaps several hours; a shopping trip or a road trip or something. If she a real smoker, she’ll probably be jonsin’ for a cigarette. Ask her if she’d like one and see if she goes for it.
