How can i talk to a doctor about depression?
when anytime i try to talk to anyone about it, mom, counselor, friend...i start crying. I have always been raised to not show weakness, and i feel like this is my biggest weakness, i always feel like everyone is going to judge with is why i have putting off talking to a doctor for so long...how can i get over the fact that i feel so worthless long enough to talk to the doctor?

If you’re a student, find someone with a title there like Counselor or Guidance Counselor or Nurse. It is premature to say you’re depressed, but you know what you feel. Ask that person for a professional appointment (a person, time and place) to discuss very bad feelings. If they want to know What feelings, say Worthlessness, without going into detail. Get THEM to make an appointment for you. If they can’t do that, then tell a parent you want your regular doctor to make such an appointment. Counseling requires special training, so you should get an appointment made by THEM for a psychologist or a psychiatrist. You don’t want to be taking drugs for the problem unless it’s really really bad (like paralyzing your actions). Psychiatrists may jump to prescribe drugs too soon or when it’s not appropriate. A psychologist can’t make that mistake because they do not have the license to prescribe drugs. Don’t let your parent talk you out of making this appointment.
If your parent will not cooperate, even if the reason is financial, then find the phone number for the local Mental Health Association and get someone there to make this Medical appointment for you, and tell them if affording the doctor a problem. Be sure to write down and keep the appointment.
At the appointment, it is best just to say what you feel and let the professional ask questions or provide answers Also let that person know if there are normal things you feel you can’t do.
I hope you get help before you feel any worse. Everybody deserves a helpful listener.
