My friend or her parents are going to tell my parents I don't eat at school and that I count calories. When they confront me how can I hide it? I want to eat normally again and I'm going to, but its embarassing and I don't want them to know.
I can tell you from experience. I have an eating disorder and it was pretty evident to my parents. They’re knowledge of it has actually helped me a lot because they encourage me to eat when I don’t feel up to it and my mom actually has researched healthier foods for me to eat so I don’t worry so much when I’m eating. I never use to be able to finish a meal without throwing a hissy fit or crying but with their help and understanding I can actually finish a full meal. My portions are smaller than the average person but it’s a working progress and it gives me something to work on. Your parents will always be there for you so you shouldn’t be afraid to tell them. Remember too that anorexia is a incurable disease so if you don’t get help early in your disease it will only get worse I can promise you that.
Honey.. I can understand that you don’t want your parents to understand this, because as a teen I had some issues that I def didn’t want my parents to know about… but.. an eating disorder is very dangerous. You could do serious damage to yourself.. so the sooner you get help the better before you make it worse. and realize that God loves you.. you are beautiful .. you are his princess :o) Just tell them that you feel like you worry more then others about your eating behaviors..
They’ll completely understand and probably help you if you told your parents. Its really unhealthy to not eat… your body needs vitamins to grow and repressing that is keeping your body to develop properly.
Your eating disorder, if you do have one (I need more details) must be confronted. If you can’t be open with your parents then please get help from someone you feel comfortable discussing this with. Life is full of people getting involved with your business.
I don’t think you should hide them. I’m not even sure how difficult this is for you, or what you’re going through. But, whenever I talk to my mom about my problems she just listens and gives her thoughts and tells me not to worry. And tell your parents that you’re going to try to stop. :)
it’s okay to be embarrassed, though you shouldn’t be. having an eating disorder is very common, and very dangerous. you should probably want your parents to know that you have an eating disorder so you can try to over come it easier, with the support of family.
if you want to lose weight, do it in a healthier way. eat more veggies, less fast food. go jogging every once in a while, but in no way should you stop eating.
I completely understand, I keep my entire life from my parents..
I have problems with food too. I’m 12 and I’m diabetic… If I dont eat enough sugar it’s bad. I don’t eat at school I used to just eat dinner, I ended up in the hospitail.. I’ve i’ve been counting Calories since I was 9, it’s ok too. Just make sure you have a balanced lunch. If you want to loose weigh you MUST eat a good amount of food then work out, it’s the only way
You say you "want to eat normally again and I’m going to." Well, if that was really true, you’d already be doing that and you wouldn’t have to ask this question. So you’re hiding the truth even from yourself.
Don’t be embarrassed. These are the people who cleaned up your poop when you were little. Tell your parents first before your friends can, so they can hear it from you first. Just do it now.
It will help your parents to understand what is going on with you.
Then go to a doctor with them, and therapy, so you can learn how to deal with your disorder and stop it.
If you’re too embarrassed to let your family know, you need to stop it right now.
