How can i find the motivation to eat healthier?

I am very motivated to workout and I enjoy it a lot, but when it comes to food I can't resist the temptation to eat donuts and chips, etc. I love fruits and vegetables but they are expensive and not always in my house. How can I find the motivation to stop eating junk food?

  1. Good thing is , you love and concern yourself! I dont think donuts and chips are cheaper than an apple, orange and banana. Dont give yourself any excuse, if you are living alone, keep fruits in your kitchen, and throw away any junk foods. When you are going to lose control and want to eat them out… just think about you have to love yourself , and why not go out for a walk with MP3 music. And find out some interesting and help you to draw out your attention with junk food.

  3. Stop looking for motivation. Do not have donuts and chips in your house, and buy some darn vegetables. Make it easy to do the right thing.

Second, give yourself a treat once a week. Not once a day, once a week. Have a reasonable portion of whatever you want. If you’re out and someone offers you something else, ask yourself if its really what you want as your weekly treat. 9 times out of 10, it is NOT. Its much easier to tell yourself ‘i don’t want those donuts because I am using my treat on pizza on saturday’ then to say ‘no i can’t ever eat junk food again’.

  4. Please, enough silliness already. If the result you expected from eating healthy foods was more important to you than the sugar, salt, and fat that you love in junk food, you’d find yourself motivated to act accordingly. Until then, a pep talk is of no use whatsoever.

  5. Fruits and vegetables are priced quite competitively with junk food in the supermarkets, they do cost quite a bit more at fast food establishments. Start by stocking up on amounts that you know you will be able to consume before rot occurs, so you don’t waste money. Then look around on recipe sites for recipes that utilize the vegetables you purchased. Slowly but surely you will enhance your culinary repertoire to include healthful meals that wind up costing about the same – if not less – than calorie-packed meals and TV-dinners.
When you surround yourself with healthy options, it will be easier to make the healthy choices. After eating real food for a while, all the processed garbage begins to look much less appealing – especially when your digestive tract acclimates to real food, because the processed junk will make not digest in as beneficial a manner (bloat, the bleh feeling, etc.).

  6. Ask yourself: which do you want more…yummy taste or good/healthy body…

a little in moderation is okay…you don’t have to torture yourself…but you should be eating plenty of fruits and veggies anyways for their antioxidants…they’re really not that much more expensive either…

  7. Well if it is a price matter, than you might be out of luck. I think that personal health is far worth the "expensive" price of fruits. Now compared to junk food, like hot pockets, candy, cookies, etc, fruit is FAR cheaper. Try markets like Trader Joe’s, which usually has deals on fruits and vegetables, and often specials on organic fruits and vegetables which taste much better and are grown without the use of artificial fertilizers and pesticides.

The best thing to do to avoid junk food is to just not buy it at the store. Get a nice cook book or brochure about quick healthy meals you can enjoy. Girls and guys will be impressed with your knowledge of health conscious foods and will make you enjoy yourself much more.

Once you quit eating junk food, it becomes easier and easier to avoid it.

Special tip: the quickest way to lose small amounts of weight is to never EVER drink soda. Soda contains high-fructose corn syrup which, despite the claim that "sugar is sugar," high fructose corn syrup is broken down into higher density lipids (fat) that are stored between your skin and muscle.
