How can a gain muscle for cross country?

My cross country coach told me that if I want to run varsity next year, I have to gain muscle. I am a 15 year old girl, 5'8, and 137 pounds. How can I gain muscle?

  1. light weights… You will not bulk up like a man since you have very little testosterone and it will help your running

  2. Do kettlebell workouts, they will maintain your cardio conditioning, but still give you muscle gain. Do not do weightlifting they will wreck your cardio
