Does acne laser treatment work?

I have had acne for 4-5 years now and I can't get rid of it! i wear make up to cover it up but you can still see the bumps and the makeup will only emphasize them after a while... i have tried every cleanser and antibiotics on the face of the earth for this and they wont go away... i have a few scars that i would also want to get rid of... my face has red in many places and pimples, zits, blackheads, some whiteheads and scars, I have oily skin... is laser treatment going to work, or is there some other treatment i can use to prevent acne and scars? Thanks :)

  1. That depends on your skin type. I used to work for a cosmetic dermatologist who offered one called Isolaz, which was specifically for acne. I don’t know much about the particular treatment, I just know that it’s for acne and that is has worked for many people. It could depend on your skin or the type of acne you have.

I don’t think that most insurance companies cover them, so they do get expensive. If that’s not a problem you should take to a dermatologist and they can give you options based on your specific case of acne

  2. Laser treatment is expensive and usually takes several sessions. Other than diet and keeping your face clean, stronger treatment is needed for more severe acne. Some options are birth control pills to keep you hormones in check, antibiotics (you have to give it at least 4-6 weeks to see results), microdermabrasion, laser treatment as you mention, and accutane. I’ve had good success with birth control and antibiotics although antibiotics should not be taken long term.
