Can I change from subsidized to section 8?

My mom lives in a subsidized apt for disabled and elderly, can she move to a house and still get rental help without a waiting period? The apt is small for the electric wheelchair. Her income is very limited. She lives in Georgia.

  1. Section 8 is awful. Don’t do it. You are only surrounded by people solely dependent on the government. Those places attract crime.
Please don’t use the police power of government to steal from your neighbors in order to pay for a family member’s housing. Pay for it yourself.

  2. If she does not use Section 8 voucher, it takes several years to get one and that is for everyone, old, children, disabled. If her apartment is too small for a wheelchair you should find a handicapped unit or disabled unit in an apartment building that is reduced-rent or affordable. If she is a senior or disabled, she can go to a senior apartment which costs less and you can get in faster.
