The local radio station calls you to ask for an on-air comment on the claim that a faulty electric wheelchair sold by your company has caused an injury to the nursing home resident. How should you respond?

I would respond with a no comment and by directing them to the official spokes person for the company. Usually someone in HR /Public Relations or Legal who has the job of interfacing with the media.

you don’t answer it yet you refer them to your companies legal department for an official statement.

We need to do a detailed investigation on what caused the accidental injury. It may not be faulty. It could have been misused (not following the instructions), So, we need to know.., how was it used?…, how did it happen?…, and lot of such questions. We cannot simply answer allegations without proper investigation. However if the buyer thinks that the equipment is faulty, he can always refer to our Customer service department and we are ever ready to resolve any issues.
