Negative feelings about losing weight?
I am 21, and my motivation to lose weight feels negative. I know I'm still young, but my brain also keeps telling me I'm old.
I want to have a young, cute, and innocent image, but it's almost as if I feel like I won't have anyone to show my fun cute clothes after college because I will be considered old, and I won't have any student activities to go to.
How can I get over this feeling and convince myself 100% that I'm not old?

Wow this is a great question. I’m in a similar boat as far as how I feel. There is no one magic bullet simple answer so I will just share some stuff I think about. This is going to sound stupid because I am giving you pieces of different facets of my thinking but i’m just going to put the paint on the canvas so to speak.
Ok first you are not old. The reason is celebrities and people who look hot at older ages. You feel like you are working out for nothing. This is BS. You are ALWAYS going to have that potential to look great (or not look great). Jennifer Love Hewitt is 30 and just did maxim again and she looks hot as heck. Josh Duhamel (Fergie’s new husband) is 36 and he looks like a million bucks. I bet you that many times you have run into a 30 something or 40 something or older that is hot or looks great for their age. So this idea that you are dealing with a limited window needs to go out the door; its just not true.
Now think back to a time that you felt good looking. I mean like if you touched your finger to your hip it would burn. Maybe at a dance or the beach or you were in great shape. Remember how good that felt? On the chance you haven’t been there, its a great feeling and one that you can obtain if you work at it. For me personally there was a time when I had nice abs that I would get compliments on, and thats part of my motivation to get my weight back down.
Now envision how you see yourself in the future. What do you look like? What are your hobbies? Who are you with and who surrounds you? When you think of all this in your head, the end result is going to be roughly (I say roughly because hey everyone is different) a little like this:

Ok so now you know what you want to be. Just get into the fitness and lifestyle routine that works for you to get yourself there.

You need to understand that the younger you are when you begin to adopt a healthy lifestyle, the easier it is for that to become a habit that will carry on through the years in which being healthy is crucial. Don’t look at it as losing weight. Look at it as setting a good, healthy foundation that you’ll have for the rest of your life. The longer you wait, the more damage you do to your body and the harder it is later in life to get on track. Tell yourself that establishing this lifestyle now means you won’t reach the point where you will need to have a health crisis to be your wakeup call.

I guess that when I was 21, it was the done thing to be a bulky bike-rider.
How things have changed for the worse with weight and self esteem nonesense.
I am now about 2 st underweight, but eat anything like a trojan, and have stopped worrying about everything.
