Losing a lot of weight and wanting a tattoo?

Here is the deal. I'm a big gal and have been thinking of getting a tattoo. It'd be a large one on the upper back from should to shoulder. What I'm wondering is, should I or should I wait? I intend to lose 191lbs in the next 2/3 years and then toning up. Would it stretch and mishape or does the back not change 'that' much?

  1. Well with the area you want it, at least you shouldn’t have to worry about stretch marks, because if you were to get the tattoo in a different area, I would say to wait so you can work around your stretch marks (which is what I did).
As far as just stretching the skin, I think you would probably be fine. Because when you tone, your skin will not be stretching anymore than it already has. It will be getting tighter. But I am in no way qualified to actually know the answer for sure, it’s just a guess.
just go to a tattoo shop, or even a few to compare what they say. Just tell then you want to lose weight, and you are afraid that severe weight loss and muscle gain will affect a tattoo. They’ll let you know.
    Good luck

  2. Wait until you lose the weight, and your skin is stabilized.

  3. I would wait. That area might not stretch much, but you never know. Asking a tattooist would be a good idea. Also, check for stretch marks in the area you want tattooed, if there aren’t any then it is less likely to deform the tattoo when you lose weight.

You could use getting a tattoo as a motivator! Like you will save up, plan, and then indulge in the perfect tattoo when you reach your goal weight! Good luck with the weight loss and tattoo!
