To complete this How-To you will need: A medical doctor Knowledge of symptoms, warning signs, and triggers Preventive measures A peak-flow monitor Step 1: Recognize the symptoms Recognize asthma symptoms, which include wheezing, breathing problems that become worse after physical activity, coughing fits, especially at night or when lying down, and colds that last more than ten days. Tip: A family history of asthma increases your chances of having the disease. Step 2: See a doctor If you suspect you have asthma, have a medical doctor evaluate your condition. You may benefit from daily medication to prevent attacks. You may also need to carry a quick-reliever, like an inhaler, in case an attack occurs. Tip: Contrary to what some people think, cough medicine doesn't relieve asthma symptoms. Step 3: Know the warning signs Learn to recognize the warning signs of an attack so you can treat it before it becomes severe.   2. Wow I had asthma once. I was walking home from a birthday party and I couldn’t take deep breathes or it would hurt and I would start coughing, so i was like panting the entire time. I didn’t do anything about it though and it went away in about 30-40 mins. Should i have done somethign? o.o

  7. I’ve recently been using an at home nebulizer to battle asthma during allergy season. If an emergency inhaler doesn’t seem to help a nebulizer tends to do wonders.

    Ask your doctor about it, they usually have ones you may be able to rent, instead of purchasing.

  12. i had asthma at age of 12 when i was in grade 8 it sucks nobody in my family has it just me. i went to see my doctor he gave me some addvice exercise slowley and my asthma will go a way it worked and my asthma was gone when i was in grade 10 but i still feel it in me when i wrok out so i take my time to breath and drink water.

  21. I had asthma when i was 4 or wen i was born. I’m scared cuz im goin on vacation and i hav 2 go on a plane which i fear might crash. And idk where my inhaler is.

    My asthma just dont come regulary it come wen i run, scared, or the coldest.
    It’s rlly scarey sometimes but i kinda learn how 2 control it. Cuz it had happen to me in track i was running n it came so i put my hand on my head and relax. Also it was cold wen i was runnin.

One time I forgot to take my inhaler before we had to run the mile in P.E big mistake… I got an asthma attack =/ but I got to the nurse and they gave me my inhlaer and they stuff like “YOU GOTTA REMEMBER” “YOU COULDA DIED!!!” and I’m like, dude I have exercise-educed asthma: my asthma attacks aren’t deadly =/ but I still should have taken it cause I still had to pay the price :3

  25. when i had an asthma attack in gym my P.E. teacher made me run another quarter mile before i was allowed to get my inhaler…..he was…yeah
