Will this skin care regimen get rid of my acne?
I'm 19, and I'm sick and tired of having acne. I've always had great hygiene and washed my face with salicylic acid cleansers, but I would always still get breakouts. For the past 2 weeks I've done the following:
-Neutrogena anti-acne salicylic acid cream cleanser twice daily
-Aveeno moisturizer after washing face
-in the evening, Neutrogena anti-acne face mask, combined with dissolved aspirin, left on face for 2 hrs daily
-then olive oil mask, left on for ~30 minutes
-shower
-Neutrogena Acne Stress Control spot treatment, left on overnight
It seems to be working. I haven't had any new breakouts, and the old ones are slowly healing. Now I just have lots of red scars and hyperpigmentation :(
My skin is not sensitive, nor is it dry.

It might work depending on your skin type and how severe your acne is.
Most of the time breakouts are caused by hormonal imbalance, stress or over sensitive skin, so putting too much chemicals on your face may aggravate your skin even more. I have oily/ sensitive skin and I find that overwashing my face caused breakouts and increased the redness on my skin. Recently I’ve experimented with using less of my cleanser ( like,1/4 of a full pump),dilute it in water and just gently massaging my skin for 10 seconds before washing it off in cool water. So far so good :)
If you’re into natural remedies, I’d recommend a lemon juice mask. It’s one remedy that significantly reduced my acne and scarring.

You are simply poisoning and sickening your skin and prematurely aging it with all that toxic stuff so how can you hope to get rid of your acne? Do a Google "salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide dangerous" and you will learn that benzoyl peroxide even applied in small doses to laboratory animals produced tumors and cancers. Salicylic acid is extemely skin and health harming also.
Also go to this site "Skin Deep Safety Database – A Feelgood Resource" to confirm the risks of using those products.

I think the more products you use with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide the more it dries out your skin. So you skin overproduces oil to compensate causing pimples. I have found that washing your face with a gentle cleanser and using a non-comogenic moisturizer works best along with acne treatment only a few times a week. The more bacteria you get rid of the better…so wash your face after work, working out, when you get up in the morning…that should clear it up.
