Why does my cat keep scratching his chin?
I know he has kitty acne on his chin. It's never been that bad. He scratched it but that's about it. Well today i noticed he scratched so hard that it's bleeding. Well not profusely , but there is a scab there. It looks like he cut something off. I don't know if I should take him to the vet because they seem to charge so much for them doing absolutely nothing .So is it mandatory to take him to the vet right now? Are there any home treatments I could do that would take care of the cut he got on his chin from scratching? If it's a last resort and he absolutely must be taken to the vet or it'll get infected then please say so. Thank you!
I KNOW IT'S NOT FROM FLEAS. I KNOW IT'S HIS ACNE BECAUSE HE SCRATCHES IT A LOT. Can I use any human ointment on him? It's not bothering him at all. The cut on his chin. He's playful and whatever.

since kitties use litter, and that litter can get stuck in their nails, your kitty should go to the vet. He may have gotten something nasty into the wound from the litter.
You’ll probably be able to get away with waiting to see if an infection has started, but with something that close to the mouth, nose, and eyes, I wouldn’t.

Hi well it could be a skin allergy of some sort or perhaps a small bite. the trouble is that it really needs to be looked at by a vet for a proper diagnosis.
It really depends on how long he has the itch for. If it is for a couple of days and if he does not appear ro be il in any other way, then I would wait to see if the itch subsides and goes away. he may have had fleas and been biten and it will take a while for the effects of this to wear off.
If it is a long term problem then I would take him to the vets for a closer examination of the area.
Best wishes and I hope the problem is sorted out soon

change his feeding bowl from plastic to glass or metal…(that will get rid of the acne)
then wash the chin with warm salt water. this will help the area to heal faster.
check for fleas… then put some meds on the cat to kill them.
THAT MIGHT BE THE CAUSE NOT the acne!

you should have taken the cat to the vets rather than ask a silly question.
