Which is better for MY pimples? Salicylic acid or Benzoyl peroxide? See details.?
Okay. I have a few horrible painful breakouts. They're red and the pimples are big. I'm 14, so Im just at that age. I don't really need to see a dermitologist. I have a lot of spot treatments though. I have Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment. Which is salicylic acid. Or, I have Benzigel5. - 5%BP. I have sensitve and very oily skin, mainly or my nose and forehead. I breakout very often. Not a day goes by that I don't have more than at least 2 pimples. I have big ones, and then just small tiny red dots that haven't come out of the skin yet on the corner of my mouth. Which product is better for me? The BP or Salicylic Acid ? Which will take less time? WHICH IS BETTER FOR MY SKIN!
Ps, the Cleanser I use is pHisoderm- Normal to Oily Skin, and does NOT have any acne fighting chemicals in it.

Out of those two I would say benzol peroxide. But sulfur is waay stronger and can be found in some products (idk which) and there is an active ingrident in the netrogena stress control thing and it’s a fruit. I think it is gyloic acid or something like that. experiment different things and try what you think is best. <3 good luck

Acne care: Clean skin with soapy water or an organic cleanser. You should do this twice a day even when you have no zits. The benzoyl peroxide (10%) creams are the most effective but are very hard on the skin. Creams with tea tree oil (like ones by Thursday Plantation and Sanctum from Australia in the region where the tea tree oil comes from) work nearly as well but do not hurt the skin. They may take 2 or 3 applications to work compared to 1 or 2 for the peroxide. They are found in health food shops in the US.

Sounds like you have similar skin as me. My face is also sensitive and I have an oily T-zone. What I found to be best is benzoyl peroxide. I actually used proactiv for about 4 months to completely wipe out pimples and used it for 4 more months just in case. Now my face is as clear as it has ever been in my life and I use a gentler salicylic acid cleanser.
I’m not trying to be a spokesperson for proactiv but that stuff really cleared up my face. You should give it a try for at least a month.

Ok, you are on the right track to fighting acne, but you have to keep up with your daily regimen. So, if you wash in the morning with the cleanser, apply the salicylic treatment on the spots and then make sure you have a good oil-free spf, you MUST use spf 30 when using salicylic or benzyl products, as they make your skin hyper sensitive to sun and the sun will surely cause discoloration or redness. Then at night or when you get home, wash face and apply the benzyl gel, just on the areas you break out mostly. You can then apply a oil free moisturizer to keep your skin moist, as benzylperoxide dries out the skin and may make it itchy/irritated. SO in the end, both products are great, but you have to have the right care program, which i just mentioned. Try not to pop the pimples or pick any scabs, this may scar and spread the acne bacteria around. Good luck!

My son had the same problem. He is also 14. I have bought him every kind of acne cream i could possibly think of. None of them seem to work. Finally his doctor gave him a prescription and told him that acne is an infection that actually needs an antibiotic. Of course just like a sore throat will clear up on its own eventually so will acne but if it doesn’t you probably need to get an antibiotic from you doctor to kill the infection and keep the acne from coming back unless you just like to continuously by cream.

when i went to the doctor about my problem she told me to use benzoyl peroxide. she prescribed a 15% face wash. when that ran out i found clean and clear with 10% benzoyl peroxide. its in a purple bottle. after washing your face i would use a lotion. i use clean and clear dual action moisturizer.
use a wash cloth with steaming hot water and put on your face to open up your pores. put on the face cleanser and then wash off the cleanser with cold cold water to close your pores and put on the moisturizer. do this TWICE a day, make it a habit
also, if you are female you can be put on birth control which will help reduce acne also.
